The afternoon sun hung low in the sky, casting a soft, golden glow over the streets of Konoha. Ugetsu walked leisurely, Mochi perched comfortably on his shoulder, her small white paws gripping his shirt as she observed the world around her with curious brown eyes.
The village was calm today, with the usual bustle of shinobi and civilians alike going about their day, but for Ugetsu, it was different—Kakashi had finally given him a break after weeks of intense training.
As he strolled through the marketplace, his mind wandered, soaking in the rare peace. Mochi purred softly, her presence a constant source of warmth and comfort. He spotted a small, elderly woman in the distance, struggling with a large bag of groceries. Her frail arms trembled as she attempted to lift the bag, and her face twisted in frustration as she realized it was too heavy.
Without a second thought, Ugetsu quickened his pace and approached her. "Excuse me, Obaachan," he said softly, his voice full of kindness. "Do you need some help with that?"
The grandmother looked up, startled at first, but her expression quickly softened as she noticed the gentle sincerity in Ugetsu's electric blue eyes. "Oh, dear, thank you," she said, clearly relieved. "My back isn't what it used to be, and this bag is heavier than I expected."
Ugetsu smiled warmly. "Let me take care of it." He gently lifted the basket, easily carrying the weight. "Where can I bring this for you?"
"Just to my home, a few blocks down the street," the woman said gratefully, walking beside him. "You're such a kind young man. I don't often see children as helpful as you these days."
As Ugetsu walked, he glanced over at Mochi, who was now intently watching the woman, her tiny nose twitching as if she sensed something interesting. The woman chuckled softly. "Oh, what a sweet little kitten you have! She's adorable."
"Her name's Mochi," Ugetsu said with pride, reaching up to stroke the kitten gently. "I found her one day and couldn't leave her behind."
The woman smiled as they reached her home. Ugetsu carefully placed the basket down by her door and stood back, giving her a slight bow. "There you go, ma'am. I hope you have a good day."
"Thank you, dear," the grandmother said, her voice full of warmth. "You're a good boy. May the village always take care of you."
As Ugetsu waved goodbye and started to walk away, he caught sight of someone familiar. Across the street, leaning casually against a fence, was Tenten. Her lips curled into a soft smile as she watched Ugetsu's kind gesture. Her brown eyes sparkled with admiration as she saw the genuine goodness in him.
"Ugetsu," she called out, walking toward him with her hands resting on her hips. "You always manage to surprise me."
Ugetsu blinked in surprise, glancing over at her with a sheepish grin. "Tenten-chan! I didn't see you there."
"I saw you, though," she teased, crossing her arms. "Helping an old lady, huh? You really are a softie."
He scratched the back of his head, slightly embarrassed. "Well, she needed help. I couldn't just ignore her."
Tenten shook her head, smiling. "That's just like you. Always thinking about others." She glanced up at Mochi, who was now lazily draped across Ugetsu's shoulder. "Hey, Mochi. Been keeping this guy out of trouble?"
