Immediately, I recognized his name. Banshee didn't seem to recall. The one that the Abyss Knight spoke of.
"So you've been wanting to see me?" I asked.
"Yes, you are an adventurer right? I need some assistance."
"How much money?" I asked.
"No, no. You pay me." He said.
"What?!?" Banshee cried.
"Only 500 gold and three questions answered." He said.
"Why do you want our money?" Banshee asked.
"No normal person could ever earn that much money and blow it off on something like this. Not unless they are a skilled adventurer... Or filthy rich. I want to know if you have what it takes. I'll tell you the details after."
"And the questions?" I asked.
"I'm just curious."
I sighed. He must really want to talk to me if he's been waiting for months just to chat. I placed 500 gold bag down in front of him. He grabbed it not even checking the bag. Banshee sighed sadly.
"Thank you. Now let's move to the questions shall we?"
"What if I get them wrong?"
"The answer to a question says nothing about right and wrong. Only about differences in attitude. I only wish to know about your choices. You need only to answer."
"This guy is weird. I don't like this." Banshee whispered to me.
"Are you ready?" He asked. His voice became serious.
"I am." I said. Banshee was right. He was weird.
"Question one. The crisis in Cavindale was resolved by an alliance between you and the God of Wind... Who calls himself Gale. Who do you think was the key to resolving the issue?"
"How do you know about Gale?"
"I know everything I need to know... So, your answer?"
I could feel sweat dripping from my forehead.
"I guess, it was Gale?" I said.
"Is that your final answer?" He asked.
"Y-Yes."
"Interesting..." He paused and closed his eyes. I could feel the tension in the air. Banshee was also shaking a little. He spoke up once again after opening them.
"Question two. Lapis Dei, who has been the savior of Máoyi for over a millennia. He used up his God Crest to make a deal thus relinquishing his title as the Savior and God. Who do you think will defend Máoyī from now on?"
How does he know so many things? Just who is this guy?
"The Xian and the people."
"I see... Now then. For my final question. There are people blessed with the power of the Gods. Visions... There are also people who weren't given a blessing. Who do you think are more important in the eyes of the Gods?"
I felt like if I said either or I would feel bad.
"Maybe...neither?"
"I see. Hm, you really are different from her." He said.
"What do you mean by her?"
He didn't respond.
"I suppose you may join me."
I don't know what his deal is but maybe talking to him was a bad idea.
"I'll tell you what we shall be doing. Have you heard of the Abyss Order? I, too am on a journey. You wish to find your sibling. I wish to hunt the Abyss."
"I've run into a Abyss Knight... Does a Void Shaman count?" I asked.
"Yes, both of them are a part of the Abyss. I've been tracking down an Abyss Herald. One of the stronger knights. I've fought it but it fled and I believe it went to the depths of Old Cavindale."
"Why would it go there?" Banshee asked.
"There's a large Kingdom below this land. It used to be the well... Old Cavindale. I don't have a clue as to why it chose the Old Kingdom to go too. Regardless, I'll like a bit of company on my travels to ensure it doesn't get away."
"Come to think of it. We have only been fighting the Talons! We haven't encountered any of the Abyssal beings since we left Cavindale. Do they stay here?" Banshee asked.
"Afraid not. They exist across the world. Hiding in shadows. There is a reason you have yet to encounter them."
"Why's that?" I asked.
"It seems they have been issued an order to stay away from you."
"That sounds dangerous. Maybe they are trying to ambush us?" Banshee asked.
"Well, I can handle them now!" I said jokingly.
Alexander looked at me with a strange face.
I felt a bit awkward.
"Is there anything else we need to know?" I asked trying to make things less awkward.
"Maybe, but I'll tell you when the time comes." He said standing up.
"Shall we get going?" He asked.
