The night had turned out to be romantic for all but had been awkward for others as well.

Shreyas and Rishabh decided to give Kul and Jaddu some space after seeing them eat each other. They decided to leave the party since all their friends were scattered and the party had almost ended.

They were the only couple that did not dance together. The atmosphere between them had been so strange and strangling after their conversation in the car that they couldn't look each other in the eye.

Shreyas known for being a flirt was invited several times to dance by girls but still he chose to stand silently beside Rishabh and stole glances at him when he wasn't looking.

Rishabh was quiet as a storm brewed in his mind. His emotions were all over the place and random girls sticking to Shreyas every 5 mins was not helping at all.

He stepped out to book a cab while someone followed him. He could sense his presence behind him but decided to ignore Shreyas.

'Why is he here? Are there less girls inside that he wants to bring some more from his house? Whatever. Let him go to hell.' Rishabh cursed internally

His cab arrived and he settled inside muttering all kind of curses for Shreyas.
"Where do you want to go sir?" The driver asked
"31, Gandhi Road." Rishabh answered

The door from the other end opened and Shreyas sat inside. Rishabh looked at him in frustration.
"Does this man want me to murder him? Why is he following me?" He spoke under his breath

"I am not following you. I want to go home too." Shreyas answered
"I booked this cab. Book yourself another one." Rishabh glared

"If you have a problem, you can leave." Shreyas challenged
"I won't leave, you will. Right now." Rishabh stated

"Sir, where do you want to go?" The cab driver asked confused
He could clearly see that they knew each other and had some kind of beef. He wanted to get out of the mess as soon as possible.

"32, Gandhi Road." Shreyas said
"You are neighbours?" The driver asked surprised "Then you can share, sir"

"Did I ask for your opinion?" Rishabh huffed at the driver
"You drive, please." Shreyas said apologetically

As soon as they reached, Rishabh exited the car and closed the door with a loud bang. He rushed inside his house while Shreyas was left paying the cab fare.

Shreyas tried to call him from behind but Rishabh had already shut his main door. Defeated, Shreyas entered his own home.

Shreyas paced back and forth in his living room, his frustration from the earlier conversation with Rishabh still simmering. They had just started to be friends and the party was supposed to bring them closer.

If it was not for him and his stupid brain then the whole mood wouldn't have been ruined. He knew he had to make amends anyhow.

His eyes gleamed with hope when he saw Rishabh arriving from his house and going towards his garden silently. Shreyas took a deep breath and approached him.

He stepped outside, the cool breeze ruffling his hair as he made his way to Rishabh's garden. He spotted him sitting on the grass, his gaze fixed on the moon, looking lost in thought.

He cleared his throat. Rishabh looked at him, his eyes looked sad. He looked at the other side, giving him no indication to sit down.

Shreyas sat beside him nonetheless. Rishabh shifted a little to the other side to make some space in between them. Shreyas felt a pang in his heart.

"Hey," Shreyas called softly, trying to break the tense silence.
Rishabh turned, surprise flickering in his eyes. "What do you want?"

Shreyas winced at the icy tone but continued.
"I just... wanted to talk. I hate where we left things." Shreyas said

"Where did we leave things?" Rishabh asked bitterly
Shreyas swallowed hard. He did not now how to express himself.

After a good pause, Shreyas continued.
"I am sorry." He uttered
"Sorry for what, Shreyas?" Rishabh press on

Once again, Shreyas was speechless.
"Sorry for saying that I am not worth you?" Rishabh asked his voice harsh.

"No, that's not-" Shrey justified
"Or sorry for making a joke of my feelings for you?" Rishabh added coldly

"Feelings?" Shreyas asked confused
"I like you,  you dumb asshole. Happy?" Rishabh said in frustration

Shreyas couldn't believe his eyes or his ears. The world had stopped for a moment, everything had paused. His happiness had no bounds.

Shrey got up and walked away. Rishabh looked at him as his eyes moistened. This was what he had expected anyways, a brutal rejection by the playboy.

Suddenly, it started raining.
He looked behind him to see that Shreyas had started all the sprinklers and was grinning like a mental patient.

Rishabh got up in anger. He stomped his way to Shreyas who had made both of them soaking wet in the night.

Before he could say anything, Shreyas yanked his arm and pulled him towards himself.

"I like you too, idiot." He whispered as Rishabh forgot to breathe.
He couldn't believe this was real.

In that moment, the distance between them vanished. Shreyas leaned closer, his breath mingling with the cool night air.

Rishabh's eyes darkened with something deeper, something they had both been holding back for too long.

Their lips met—softly at first as they got used to this new feeling. The kiss deepened, fueled by the emotions they had both kept hidden.

They broke apart as their cheeks flushed. Rishabh had gotten what he wanted, a Bollywood style first kiss in the artificial rain and greenery surrounding them.

And Shrey too had gotten what he wanted, his neighbour Rishabh.

They sank back into the wet grass, as sleep enveloped them. The night had changed so much between so many people but the day had to bring more surprises.
