Areum was so deeply engrossed in her work that the world around her seemed to fade away.
Her nose was buried in a stack of papers, her fingers flying across the page as she meticulously transcribed notes and scribbled down ideas. The soft hum of the lamp beside her was the only sound that accompanied the rhythmic scratching of her pen.
Lost in the labyrinth of her thoughts, she didn't even notice the faintest shift in the air, the subtle change in the atmosphere of her small study. It was only when a soft clinking sound reached her ears, a delicate melody of metal against wood, that she finally lifted her head.
Her eyes, momentarily blurry from intense focus, blinked in surprise as they landed on the figure standing before her desk.
It was Yuno, his usual stoic expression softened by a hint of a smile.
He held a basket filled with colorful treats and a bottle of water, the contents a stark contrast to the seriousness of her work.
The sight of him, standing there with such an unexpected offering, was enough to melt away the tension that had been tightening her shoulders. A wave of warmth washed over her, a feeling that was both comforting and confusing.
Areum's lips curved into a wide smile as she looked at the basket of snacks and the water bottle Yuno had brought. It was like a ray of sunshine breaking through the clouds of her focused work.
"Are these for me?" she asked, her voice a little playful, her eyes sparkling with a mix of surprise and delight.
The thought of Yuno bringing her food made her heart flutter, even though she wouldn't admit it out loud. She was really hungry, and the sight of those delicious treats was a welcome sight.
"Yeah. I bought them on the way here," Yuno said simply, his voice calm and steady.
He sat down across from her at the table, his movements smooth and efficient. He pushed aside the scattered papers and arranged the snacks neatly, making sure Areum had everything she needed.
"I was back on my mission with Klaus-senpai and Mimosa," He said, she nod as she picked up a biscuit and took a bite. She was still focused on her work, but the presence of Yuno and the delicious snacks were a welcome distraction.
"Hmm, what happened?" Areum's eyes widened a little as Yuno reached out and gently wiped a crumb from her lips with his thumb. She heard him mutter "dumb" under his breath, but he quickly continued.
"Then, Captain Vangence asked me to pay you a visit here, since you've been working here for three days straight already." Areum blinked, surprised.
Yuno's expression was a mix of concern and annoyance.
He seemed to be scolding her, but his actions were tender. He handed her a handkerchief and subtly gestured for her to wipe her face.
"Are you even thinking straight at this point? Is the rest not in your vocabulary? Huh, Flyspe—" Yuno stopped mid-sentence, realizing that Areum was staring at him blankly, lost in her own thoughts.
