"I don't know," Will said, thinking of the small smile on her father's face when he came home that night last week, "I kinda like her. Maybe we should invite her to dinner or something."

Jess chuckled, "Invite me too, I wanna see how it goes."

Bella rolled her eyes, but Will sat up straighter, excited. "That's actually a really good idea, Jess, I could invite you over, and Jake and all the Volonte's so it would be less awkward!"

"Anything with Charlie is gonna be awkward, Willow." Bella sighed.

Jessica could feel the tension in the air and quickly busied herself sorting through Will's pens on her bedside table. She had never seen the sisters fight but based on how Will treated mean old ladies at work, she knew it wouldn't be pretty.

"I guess I just never really saw him as a dad."

"You mean the person who cares about you more than anyone else? Who puts a roof over your head and worries about you constantly?"

Bella rolled her eyes again and stood up, obviously not wanting to be a part of the conversation. "You wouldn't get it, your relationship with him is different."

"How?" Will seethed, not believing what she was hearing.

"You guys are always hanging out together, you have your little inside jokes that I'm not a part of -"

"I make an effort to spend time with him - I go fishing and I watch Basketball, I talk with Billy! Maybe if you stopped moping around about Edward -"

"I can't talk to you about this!" Bella said, snapping at the name and leaving the room in a rush, slamming the door behind her.

"Well then..." Jess said, putting the pens back. "Let's just pick out your outfit, okay? Let's not overthink this."

Willow nodded with her lips in a tight line. Just when she thought things were getting better with her sister, she would say something, and the emotional girl would fly off the handle.

She didn't get how anyone could be attached to some random boy and a vampire at that. Will and Bella had grown up watching Renee go through her flings, and they promised each other to never grow so dependent on men... but it seemed that Bella already broke that vow.

Will spun around in her desk chair, all the colors of her room blending together as she listened to Jessica rant and pace the room.

"The whole thing about our relationship is that he never wanted to go out and do actual girlfriend/boyfriend things, so I broke up with him, because I deserve better or whatever - but as soon as your sister wants to go to the movies he jumps at the chance - isn't that a date thing? He never wanted to go to the movies with me, I'm confused as to why -"

There was a honk from the driveway in front of the house, and both girls froze in their tracks. Jess squealed excitedly and took Will's hand, pulling her up from the chair. "He's here!"

Will gulped and slowly pulled on her jacket. "Oh God, was this a good idea?"

"You're perfectly fine bantering with him in a friendly situation, this won't change anything-" Jess said, spraying Will with a perfume she had in her purse. "Okay, you go down and I'll sit here for five minutes before leaving so he doesn't see me."

"Okay..." Will nodded, biting her lip.

She took a deep breath and hurriedly ran down the stairs, thanking her luck that her dad was fishing with Harry Clearwater. Although he wouldn't mind that she was going out, he definitely would when he figured out what she would be doing.
