They weren't friends, but they weren't enemies either. It was only awkward between them because they never knew what to say to one another. Fantasia was shy and a little withdrawn, while Taraji was outgoing and the life of the party. They were total opposites. But the craziest part of it all was that their best friends were total opposites of them as well.

Danielle, who was Fantasia's best friend, was loud and adventurous. Mary, on the other hand, was just like Fantasia; she just wanted to be left alone. But she and Taraji had been best friends since diapers. "Dani wants to go to Vegas for the weekend. Do you want to go?" Taraji asked Mary. She knew her friend wasn't a fan of people per se, but Mary did like to have a good time. "I'm down. If it's just us. Dani is extra as hell. So who all did she invite?"

Taraji burst into laughter. Mary was not wrong. Dani acted as if there needed to be a party at every turn every second of the day. Taraji loved to have fun, and she was indeed a social butterfly, but even she got sick of having random people around all of the time. "It will just be me, you, Dani, and I think she's trying to talk Fantasia into coming." Mary watched her best friend roll her eyes. She shook her head. Taraji and Fantasia didn't have any beef; they were just weird as hell around each other.

"Cool, I'll start packing. I need a break away from this place." Mary said, and Taraji agreed. A weekend of some wild Vegas fun was just what they both needed. They went straight from being college graduates to working professionals without even taking a quick moment to just breathe. Their families had money—a lot of it—but they were always determined to make their own way. And so far they were accomplishing that.

"Come on, Tasia. It's gonna be fun. And you and Taraji can finally move past whatever y'all got going on." Dani said. She was trying to talk her best friend into a quick trip to Vegas. Fantasia was on board until she heard Taraji was going. That woman made her feel things she couldn't explain. Their interactions always ended up being so frustrating. "Okay, Dani. But only because I'm burned out from work."

Dani jumped up and started dancing. She was going with or without Fantasia, but she always preferred to have her best friend along for the ride. Fantasia acted shy, but when that liquor hit, she was a different person—a fun time. And that's who Danielle wanted in Vegas with her.

The four ladies landed in Vegas and headed to their hotel. Dani had reserved a massive suite for them, and they would all have their own room. Taraji and Danielle were bursting with excitement to be in Vegas. Fantasia and Mary walked quietly behind their friends, shaking their heads, and wondering if this trip was a huge mistake. Dani was already talking about all the trouble they were about to get into.

After getting settled in their suite, they met in the common area and started taking shots. Fantasia groaned at how the alcohol burned as it went down. Taraji started singing Usher's Let It Burn, and the other ladies started laughing, even Fantasia. Taraji gave Fantasia a little wink. They had talked on the plane and promised not to ruin this trip for Mary and Danielle by acting bizarre. They didn't even know why they weren't actual friends after all of the years of them knowing one another.
