"I have to go I'm sorry, you can stay here if you'd like."
" No Tim, please tell me, you're lying about something I can tell."
"Just drop it!" I exclaimed coldly and pushed past her towards the door, knowing this would cause her to stop questioning for a second, allowing me to leave. I could tell I had hurt her and it pained me, I just hoped she would understand eventually and forgive me.
I don't know what I would do when I faced Rosalind. I didn't know how I would be able to look her in the eyes and not kill her on the spot. What she did to Lucy, what she did to so many people, it was unforgivable. I needed to do this, to catch Rosalind, so Lucy might finally be able to exist peacefully, without worrying about the worst day of her life repeating itself.
When finally I got to the station, Angela and Nolan were stood outside, waiting for me to arrive. They were talking quietly by the side of the building, checking their surroundings constantly. When Angela saw me she started towards me, Nolan following close behind.
"Hey." Angela greeted and hugged me. "You okay?"
"Yeah, can't wait for this to be over." I responded, glancing at Nolan, determination etched on his face.
"So what's the plan?" he asked and looked between Angela and me.
After about 30 minutes we had a devised a pretty fool proof plan. We had to make sure she wouldn't be able to get away, or outsmart us.
"Where are we meeting her?" I asked as we walked to my car.
"I have the address, I'll direct you." Nolan stayed from the back of the car and I drove off in the direction he pointed to. My heart was racing as we neared the location. Angela had already called for backup units to be placed around the location. A bug had been placed on my chest to record the conversation and SWAT was waiting at a nearby location in case this went South.
I was more nervous than I had been in a long time, this case had become very personal since Lucy was taken. It was even more personal now.
"Pull up just here." Nolan stated and gestured to a warehouse on the left side of the street. I stopped the car and Nolan and I got out the car.
"Be safe, I will be listening, use the safe word if you are in trouble." Angela said quickly as I got out the car.
Nolan and I looked at each other for a second before he walked ahead and I followed behind. As much as I disliked him, I did trust him as a cop and his confidence seemed to run off into me a little.
The building was grey and blue on the outside, the rotting wood panels and rusted metal sheets causing it to look rundown. The blue paint that chipped off revealed the dull grey below which complemented the black mold coating every crack nicely. As we approached the door, Nolan seemed to slow, worrying me slightly.
"What's wrong?" I asked when he stopped just before reaching the door.
"You ready?" he asked, looking back at me.
"Of course, open the door, Nolan."
"Copy that."
He pushed the huge metal door and it squeaked as it swung open. Inside was just as bleak as outside, its lack of lighting increasing its rundown appearance
"Hello, boys." a woman's voice spoke from across the room. I heard a click and a dull yellow light spring into action, revealing Rosalind sat on an old desk in the corner of the room.
We walked over to where she was sitting, the door we had just come through clanking shut.
"What do you want, Rosalind?" Nolan asked, frustratedly rolling his eyes.
