chapter three,
Dory had a hundred books to choose from, all of them thrown around her new bedroom but for some reason Dory found herself in bed, reading the Oxford Dictionary, that was one of the few perks of having a really good memory, it came with a really good vocabulary.
Her head shot up when her bedroom door opened, Meredith walking in with a cup of coffee as she stepped over a pile of books, putting her coffee down and laying down beside Dory while George asked if she needed her privacy.
Dory, having just started on the O section of the dictionary, looked over at her friend, "It's obscene how much they argue," She watched as Meredith put a straw in her coffee, sipping the drink through it. It was about four am, so they still had some time to get ready for work and just lay in bed for a while.
Meredith just hummed in agreement, "I wish they would take their obscenity somewhere else," Dory sighed, pushed up her cat eye glasses with the back of her hand while her roommate stared up at the ceiling. "It's kind of obscure," The younger of the two spoke up as Meredith turned to face Dory, checking out what she was reading. "Sorry, was my thigh obscuring it?" Dory asked as she moved her leg to reveal the cover of the book as Meredith finally picked up on what she was doing. She let out a sigh, running her hands over her face, "You're being obnoxious." She muttered, her voice still heavy with sleep, her straw still half in her mouth as the younger woman smirked.
"Wrong! Obnoxious comes before all of these words," She slammed the book shut, tossing it to the ground to meet the others. The dirty blonde woman just shook her head, pulling the fluffy pink throw over her body and resting her head on Dory's shoulder.
"Want me to switch off the light?" She asked, starting to take off her glasses, Meredith didn't say anything but hummed a response as Dory flicked off the light. After less than two minutes, the two were fast asleep again.
By the time they got to the hospital, Dory who was sat in the backseat next to Izzie, had finished reading the entirety of the Dictionary, finding it rather interesting as she put it down on the seat beside Izzie. She had to lean over the blonde who pouted as she sipped her iced tea, not even making eye contact with Dory when she passed her.
"Oh, what's wrong with you, pretty girl?" Dory asked once she pulled away, now getting out of the car that Meredith parked, Izzie following after her. "George's room is bigger than mine, he even has a bigger closet." Izzie complained, the two doctors walking ahead to get to the hospital as Dory turned to face her, a soft smile playing on her lips.
"Just put some of your things in my closet." Izzie paused for a second, her head snapping toward Dory so fast that the raven-haired woman was afraid she was gonna get whiplash.
"Seriously?" She asked, face shadowed with shock as Dory's eyes flickered over to her for a second. Shrugging, she spoke up, "What are friends for," Izzie let out a soft giggle, music to Dory's ears as she gave the woman a quick side hug before they rushed into the hospital.
