"You have a lot of nerve coming back here." I snap, in lieu of a greeting. He walks down the stairs of his ship and I meet him at the bottom with a glare.
"Aye, but I'm here to help." He tells me and I shake my head with a humorless laugh.
"Help? You left me-us here to die." I say with a pointed look. He pauses for a second and gives me a sincere look before holding out a small leather pouch for me.
"I thought about it but...I just couldn't." He tells me softly and I grab the pouch with furrowed brows. I open it hesitantly, tilting it into my hand and gasp softly under my breath. The bean. He came back to give me the bean. I look up at him in shock.
"Enough waiting around, let's go." Regina's voice right next to me, startles me.
"Go? Where? I thought we were saving the town." Hook asks and I realize now that he still thinks the town is in danger of blowing up. He came back anyways. Why would he do that? I shake my head, as though to clear it, before responding.
"I already did. Greg and Tamara took Henry through a portal, we need to get him back." I tell him with a heavy sigh, tired of everything going wrong all the time. It's like this town is trying to prove Murphy's law is real.
"Well, I offer my ship and my services to help follow them." He offers and my eyes widen hopefully.
"Well, that's great, Hook but how will we track them?" Regina asks.
"Leave that to me. I can get us where we need to go." Gold steps forward and I sigh in relief. Relief that for once, everyone is willing to work together. For Henry. If I wasn't so jaded, I'd call it heartwarming.
"Then let's do it." Emma says with determination. Hook nods and we all follow him up the ramp of the Jolly Roger. It feels good to be back on a ship, despite the circumstances. I've always felt most at peace when sailing. I walk over to Hook who gives me a questioning look.
"Thank you, for this." I say, looking down at the small pouch with the bean. "I didn't think you had it in you." I admit, half teasing, half serious.
"Ms. Kingsley." Gold's voice cuts off whatever Hook was about to say.
"Mr. Gold." I parrot back, turning to face him. He glances at Hook for a second before turning his attention back to me.
"I owe you my deepest gratitude." He tells me genuinely. I balk and look at him with wide eyes.
"What's gotten into everyone today?" First Hook, now Gold.
"You sacrificed your life to save me." He ignores my little jab and I raise a brow.
"I still haven't heard a 'thanks'." I say and he smiles.
"Thank you. But I am curious how you're alive." He prods and I sigh.
"Apparently, I have magic. Magic that Cora stole from me as a child. When she killed me-"
"You're magic inside of her reacted to your death and killed her." He finishes for me and I nod.
"Yes, and somehow it returned to me. She couldn't kill all of me because there was a piece missing. My magic saved me." I finish explaining with a shrug and he nods in acceptance.
"I owe you a debt Ms. Kingsley. A favor. Feel free to cash it in anytime." He tells me and I grin. A favor from the Dark One sounds incredibly useful.
"Cheers." I respond simply.
"Are you done trying to kill me?" Gold asks Hook, looking at him as though he's no better than the old wood beneath our feet.
"I believe so." Hook's response shocks me more than anything that's happened today. My head turns in his direction so fast I hear my neck pop. His gaze is locked onto Gold.
"Excellent. Then you can live." Gold says before waving his hand and a strange globe magically appears. It looks as though someone forgot to paint on all the different countries. The others finally join us, curious as to how this thing will manage to find Henry.
Gold lifts his hand and pricks his finger on the sharp point at the top of the globe. He hovers his finger over the blank ball, letting a drop of his blood land. The blood seems to absorb into the globe. It begins to swirl until it takes the shape of a piece of land. One that I can't place.
"Where is that? Where did they take Henry?" Emma asks. I feel a little scared when I see Hook's grim expression but I feel pure dread when I see a matching look on Gold's face. If something can unnerve the Dark One, it will certainly unnerve me.
"Neverland." Hook responds and I furrow my brows. I'm guessing by their reaction, Neverland is nothing like it is in the movies. Me and the other follow Hook up to the helm. I drop the bean gently into his hand, which he swiftly throws over port side. He walks back over to the helm and begins to steer us in the direction of the glowing green portal. I grab onto a rope that's hanging from the boom of the sail tightly.
"Who're we up against? Who are Greg and Tamara?" David asks.
"They're merely pawns. Manipulated by forces far greater than they can conceive. They have no idea who they're truly working for." Gold responds, apparently trying to be vaguely terrifying.
"And who's that?" I ask.
"Someone we all should fear." His response makes me swallow hard, imaging what type of monster could inhabit Neverland. From my memory, The villain of Neverland, in the movies, was Hook. So if he's with us, then who?
"I will die happy if I never have to go through another damn portal." I mutter, closing my eyes tightly as we descend into the portal.
