"LILAH!" I scream her name like a prayer, the words hold a promise I should've told her before we came here.

I was naive in thinking that we would all make it out of here alive. I thought I could plan everything out to a T and it would all go our way.

Don't let her die, it's not time. I'm not ready.

I skid to a halt in front of a mess of blood and limbs, a dusting of falling snow spotting their bodies.

I grab Lilah by the waist, hauling her lifeless body off the dock and smashing her into my chest, trying like a check her pulse like a maniac.

I'm frantic, random words spewing out of my mouth as my brothers come up behind me, grabbing Lilah themselves to shake her awake.

She doesn't even flutter her eyes, and my stomach drops the longer it takes to wake her up. My heart shatters when Onyx stops and just holds her. This is it. This is where it ends.

"She promised. She promised she wouldn't." Kai whispers, his tone filled with a sad anger that I know has everything to do with the dead woman in Nyx's arms.

Dame is dead silent, his eyes fixated on her body as if he can stare her alive. It's a horrific site to see the life slowly leave his own eyes as the hope slowly gives out.

"She has a pulse." Onyx says, his voice hoarse as his hand circles her throat, hauling her even closer to his chest almost as if she's about to run away.

We move in perfect harmony after those words leave Onyx's lips. I don't even have time to calm the pit of anxiety and saddness that has consumed my mind, so focused on just keeping her alive.

She's alive, she's alive.

"DRIVE!" Kai screams from the backseat, Lilah's head in his lap as he and Dame hold their hands against her wounds. There's a deep chest wound as well as one on her side. Her face is marred in bruises and blood, a deep purple spoltch forming along her cheekbone.

I weave in and out of traffic, going a hundred miles and hour as I fly down the roads towards the hospital. Normally, I would bring whoever was hurt to our doctor on call, but Lilah is too important to trust a doctor in our house to. I thought she was dead, we all thought she was dead.

She killed Marco, I saw it. She beat him blood and blue as my brothers and I ran down the pier. She was screaming words that I could't make out at him, and I almost begged her to just slit his throat and be done with it, but she kept demanding things from him. Finally, she must've felt his heart stop beating and gave up.

She fucking gave up. On herself, on us. If she was awake right now I would be giving her hell for giving up on us yet again. We told her she wasn't allowed to do that and she told us she wouldn't. She fucking lied to us and I want to kill her for it.

We can't end like this. We have barely lived.

I round the corner towards the emergency room entrance, the wheels skidding at I slow my speed. We pull into the emergency entrance, all of us jumping out of car before it's even in park. Dame is the one who grabs a hold of Lilah from Kai's arms and starts running into the hospital. It feels like we were here not that long ago from Marco's kidnapping.

God, they're going to think we're beating the hell out of her—we'll have to deal with the police too.

Don't you fucking dare die Lilah.
