Y/n just finished telling his story to his dad, "Wow, so that's how you roll, huh?" HIs father said as he chuckled.
"Yeah, yeah... Anyways, what were you supposed to tell me, dad?" Y/n said as his father sighed in defeat. Suddenly the fun and casual atmosphere Y/n's story set up was immediately gone. The two males of the family talk to each other as if they're business partners and not father and son.
"I'm dying, Y/n. I only have a few weeks left. I never told your sisters nor your mother about this. But I've been on watch by the doctors for a few months now. I requested to not put me stuck in the hospital because I'd rather spend it with you guys. I don't have much time left, Y/n. And I just want to say that I know the company will reach the toppest of highs with you in the helm and that I love you so so much... I'm sorry if you just learned it now but I just couldn't get myself to be a burden to you guys. That if I said it earlier, you guys would put more time into me than your actual obligations. I'm sorry you have to learn this on call but let's make the most of it alright? I love you, son." His father said as he went completely silent, trying to comprehend what had been said.
"But, you're not that old... Dad, don't joke. It can't be. I- I can't..." Y/n stuttered, struggling to find the words to say to his father.
"It's fine, Y/n. I know this is harder for you than it is for me to hear this. But I guess I kinda saw it coming from all the cigarettes I've been using all these decades. Tell you what, let's go on a trip! If that can change your mood." His father said as the business man smiled.
"Only the two of us?" Y/n asked.
"Well, three, take Hanni with you. At least, I know someone's with you. Because hearing your voice right now, I know you don't feel so good about all of this. So take her with you. I'll send you the details later. See you, Y/n." His father said as he hung up the call.
The man stood up and looked outside of his windows. The glass gives him a bird's eye view, seeing all the tips of the skyscrapers and at the same time seeing the people walking on the sidewalk. It's ironic, with the view, it feels like he's got the world on a string yet his father's news reminded him that some things are just inevitable. No matter his standing, he just can't change things if he wanted to.
His train of thought was interrupted by a text message, it was from his dad.
Old man: See you on Saturday at Busan. I'll take care of the payments. Just don't forget to bring Hanni, okay?
Y/n: Alright... See you, dad.
Y/n sighed and messaged Hanni,
Y/n: Hey, can you free your schedule for a few days? Let's go to Busan on Saturday. See you.
Y/n waited for a few minutes for Hanni to respond yet to no avail. He thought that maybe the girl was in a lecture as he just continued ok with his day, albeit not in full productivity.
~meanwhile, on Hanni's side~
As Y/n was checking the paperwork of his company's new and upcoming projects, his phone vibrated as his ringtone started to sound.
Someone was calling him, it was of course, Hanni. He accepted the call, "Hey, Hanni." Y/n quietly said.
"You're inviting me to Busan?! Are you sure? I've always wanted to go to Busan!!! Luckily the university has an academic break so that I can be free for the weekend and next week! I love you, Y/n!" Hanni said on the phone, not realizing what she said.
After a few seconds of deafening silence, Hanni realized her words and retracted, "I- No, I- don't mean it like that! It's just that Busan has been on my bucket list for so long now. So, when I saw your messages, I was elated."
