Her life had completely changed after that fateful day.

For many months, Cassian would search for a bit but came back to Ilsire Commune. All those months, she never went back to Nywolke. She just couldn't bring herself to do so. It was a site for tragedy. All these months, she was constantly breaking down into tears. No one understood why. Raviel did, of course, as Cassian told him. Other than that, none of the other Ilsire Commune citizens knew.

The once very rich Cassian... wasn't as rich anymore. Sure, she may have been born and raised in Nywolke, but the money belonged to her parents, who would sometimes lend the children money to buy their own things. But since they are no longer around, Cassian cannot do much anymore. Yes, she is still somewhat wealthy, but not wealthy enough to buy her own house like she wants to, despite still being young.

Cassian would wonder: Why does every life need a tragedy?

One day, a now older Cassian was assigned to return a sapphire-pearl pendant for the princess. The only way she would have to do would be to steal, something Cassian was starting to find the thrill for. Stealing was something she was always against, but now, she didn't care. She wanted adventure. She wanted happiness. Over the years, the once carefree and innocent girl became somewhat of a snake. Cassian was now very cunning, but she was still very kind to the people around her. Some days, she would get snippets of the tragedy that happened to Nywolke years ago.

These days, Cassian was EXTREMELY distrusting of people and got nervous from talking at times. She was always easily overwhelmed, but she didn't want another incident to happen. The trauma was basically embedded into her, and she couldn't just let it go that easily. Her family... her friends... her past life... The sight was too much to bear. Visions clouded her so many nights. Cassian decided to clear her mind by going to the local pastry store. Raviel ran a bakery half a mile away, but Cassian wanted something sweet. She wanted lunch later.

As Cassian went into the store, the shop owner was cleaning a table. The young woman smiled. "Hey there," she said. "Hungry? I've made one of your favorites! Come sit down." She lead Cassian down to her favorite spot, by the window, where she could see the creek she would mindlessly wander off to on her days off from scouting.

Cassian took a bite out the apple fritter that was made for her. Her mom always made apple fritters for her when she was younger. Then, at the bakery, she got to share that love. The fritter the lady made was about as good as her mom's. "Thank you." Cassian said. Cassian and the shop owner were so fond of each other, they knew practically everything about everything. She even knew about the king assigning her to do tasks. They let out their emotions to each other. They both were so fond that Cassian let her call her by her real name, not her fake name. The shop owner was like a second mother to Cassian. Something she desperately wanted back.

Cassian looked down at the amulet that she still wears to this day. The only times she EVER takes it off is when she is going to bed or going for a swim. But that's about it. She sighed sadly.

"Something wrong?" the woman asked. Cassian took another bite and waited to swallow so she could talk.

"I guess. It's just... It's just this amulet. It was a gift from my sister. I miss her. This is all I have left of her. I also have a perfromance at about seven in the evening. I've been performing alone for four years, but I don't want to do it any longer. I used to perform with her all the time when I was five all the way up to when I was eleven. For our last performance, well, we didn't think it would actually BE OUR LAST. Oh, and the king assigned me to steal again."

The shop owner smirked. "And I was assigned to shit myself."

"MA'AM!" Cassian shrieked in utter disbelief.
