8. Unexpected Friend

                                    

                                          
(One Year Later)
It's been a year and I've gone to beast glades so many times that I got a secret base there. I go there at night when everyone is asleep so I don't have to deal with their worries. I have trained also. My magic powers are working beautifully while the black hole evolved to be able to store infinte things. I'm also somewhat able to just suck in the ambient mana and compress it to a sort of mana core. Eating it does help with replenishing my mana.
I've also created devices with the knowledge of my past life using mana as a alternative to electricity. I'm also trying to create runes for magic like alacrya and djinns. I decided to use a language of my old world but I haven't been succeeded yet. It's something I decided on last week so yeah, the progress is at infant stage. 
Ellie is also born but is only like a six months old so it's easier for me to sneak out since everyone's attention is towards her right now.
Apparently my black holes can not only compress ambient mana but also aether. I couldn't sense it but once it went into my body Sylvia was able to sense it. Neither I nor her have the draconic body needed to be able to influence aether so it's just floating in my mana core network while Sylvia tries to utilise it. 
So right now, I am in a dungeon in beast glades trying to train with these mana beasts which look like mutation fusion of bats and lizards. I'm mainly kicking them left and right since they were of no challenge against my magic. 
"You've gotten good at target practicing" Sylvia gave me mental nod.
"Thanks. But these one's aren't much of a challenge in the first place. Anyways how's your efforts at controlling aether?" I asked her as I walked deeper into the cave.
"Well since I don't have any of my orginal powers nor do I have my draconic body it's not really working. Perhaps due to my insight from when I had my body I can still see the aether particles in your body but can't control it. Maybe if you take in a lot of aether then maybe I could try to control it but not yet." She said in what seemed like a disappointment.
"Try but remember the last time I ate a mana core. I felt like I would explode with the sudden surge of power. So we have to wait until my body stronger."
"That is true. If I hadn't expelled the excess mana the consequences might be bad."
Suddenly I heard a scream from the lower floor. 
"Jake!"
"Yes!" I sprinted with full speed. 
I saw a bigger version of the mana beast I fought earlier. Must a boss or a mini boss.
"Aaaahhh!" I turned to the source of the scream which looked like a girl around my age with a black robe which contrasted her pale complexion and pearl coloured hair. The mana beast was moving towards her. 
She screamed in terror with her eyes closed and tears rolling down her cheeks. 
I shot a fire arrow at the beast getting it's attention. "Rawhhhhh" It screeched with a high pitch voice that was sharp on my ears. It ran towards me.
I smirked and conjured stone spikes on its feet and icicle spikes on its top trapping it between the teeth like structure. I ran towards it readying a punch. 
"Let's try the thing, Sylvia!" 
"Sure" She started to condense my mana on fist and as the punch connected with the beast, mana followed and hit the beast as well. Distorting the space and its face with black light whipped out of my hand.
"Black Flash!" 
The beast got killed quite easily to my surprise. Perhaps it was not a boss just a bigger one. Or maybe I'm just that strong.
