Bibi - Vengeance

DAISY

I can't eat or sleep. Seven months here and I feel like my life has been slipping away.

Kai is a sweetheart. Does everything to keep me company when he's not Romanos back and call. He brings me my favorite desserts but I can't seem to keep them down. I throw up right as he's gone for the day and I could tell, it is getting to him.

I pushed away the bowl of broth ramen and smiled, "I'm not hungry." If I'm not eating, I'm being dragged to the beach. Though the smell of the salty water calms my never-ending nausea.
His jaw clenched and he looked down at the pushed tray, "How long will you keep this up?"

"I'm just not hungry, Kai."

"Bullshit! Is this your fucked up punishment?"

"It's nothing like that-"

"Don't lie to me!" His voice rises and my lips thin. I don't have to answer him if he keeps up this tone. He does not own me. And when he knows I won't say another word, he takes a deep breath, "Just eat. Even if it's a little bit, Daisy."
I picked up the pickled radish and took a small bite, "Happy?" His eyes closed in exasperation and there's a knock on the door.
Carter Romano walks in. He's always so gentle walking into the room but there's an air to him. A dominant presence to him. "Did she eat?" He asks Kai rather than me. Kai shakes his head and points at the ramen broth. Carter looks at me, jaw clenched but his voice is smooth. Soft. "Will you please accompany us downstairs? He wants to talk to you."
I took a deep breath and nodded. Getting off the bed.

It wasn't cold outside but I was shivering. Dressed in a thick pink sweater and jeans because of it.
I walk past Kai, already feeling dizzy as soon as I'm on my feet, and follow Carter Romano to talk to Martin.

After my first day here, I stood against Martin with a knife Kai put in my hand. I was allowed to do whatever I pleased. If I wanted to fuck Martin up, no one was holding me back. But it always ended up with me frozen to my place, hand tight around the hilt of the knife, Martin laughing in my face. And it always ended up with him being punched unconscious by Carter or Kai.
They were keeping him alive because of me, because of some dumb pathetic idea that if I grew balls to finish him off, I would be free from my past.

But the truth was, I was not able to do it. I can't do it.
I am not a killer.

I followed them quietly, feeling dizzier by the second when we started going down the stairs.
There's a strong white light in the basement that makes my eyes hurt and causes me to feel faint. Kai grabs me before I can fall on my back and keeps holding me until we're in the basement. I feel nauseous again with the white light and Romano says, "Tone the lights."
The lights tone down and I'm finally able to open my eyes again. Kai has his hands around my waist and sighs, "You okay to stand up by yourself?" I nod stubbornly and he lets go slowly, staying behind me and close on purpose.
Carter is standing beside me and his voice is hushed, only for my ears, "You should eat."
