The weekend following Cedric and Emerson's first anniversary brought the first Quidditch game of the year: Gryffindor versus Slytherin. It was the game that everyone in the entire school looked forward too, even if you weren't in either House. For the Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs, naturally most of the students gave up their loyalty for one day to cheer and support the Gryffindor team, since no one else truly wanted to see Slytherin win.

Emerson and Olivia were intending to show their support for the Gryffindor team, the latter of the two excited to support her boyfriend. George had given Olivia his Quidditch jumper to wear, with the name 'Weasley' etched on the back. She wore it proudly as they entered the Great Hall for breakfast, with George's red and gold scarf wrapped around her neck.

Emerson was also wearing a red and gold scarf around her neck, given to her by Fred, since she didn't own a Gryffindor scarf. It felt strange to wear the Gryffindor colours around her neck, she'd only ever worn the Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff colours before. In addition to the scarf, Fred also politely offered for her to wear his Quidditch jumper, but she declined. The only Quidditch jumper she ever wanted to wear was Cedric's. She was content with just wearing the Gryffindor colours as a scarf to show her support for them.

Like everyone else, Emerson wanted the Gryffindor team to win. She didn't care as much as she once did for Quidditch since Cedric died.

She still remembered the thrill of watching the Quidditch matches when she was crushing on Cedric during her Third-Year. The Hufflepuff crowd roared and cheered every time Cedric caught the Snitch in a dazzling and electrifying way. It was undeniable that his presence made the Hufflepuff's team a formidable force. They managed to beat Gryffindor during the year that they won the Quidditch championship.

She was glad that Hufflepuff weren't playing, or she probably wouldn't have been able to watch. The loss of Cedric was a wound that time could not heal. The Seeker replacement in the Hufflepuff Quidditch Team, Jamie Summerby, was only a stark reminder of Cedric's absence. He should be here, playing, catching Emerson's eye with his familiar grin as he searched the pitch for the Golden Snitch.

It was a struggle for her to watch the sport once more, but Olivia begged her. She wanted company in the stands while she watched George play for the first time as his girlfriend. According to Olivia, who had recently watched a few of their trainings so she could watch George practice, the Gryffindors were looking quite strong and favourable to beat the Slytherins. She eventually gave in to Olivia's pleas, but Quidditch did not bring her the same feelings of exhilaration and excitement that it once did,

Of course, she could not deny that she didn't want Slytherin to win. Emerson merely didn't want them to win because she didn't want to see their smug and arrogant expressions afterwards, including Mattheo's.

She hadn't properly spoken to Mattheo since their encounter in the grounds. The days following were a blur of his dark eyes following her every movement, as they always did but strangely, he said nothing. He was always quick with a sharp retort or mocking comment, and her crying in front of him was the perfect ammunition. After crying for hours on end, she braced herself for his calculated taunts and insults. She didn't want to breakdown in front of him again. At first, she assumed he was biding his time, plotting and preparing his next insult and waiting for the opportune moment before delivering it.
