Sarada Pov:

- - - - - Flashback - - - - -

*Sarada is 6 years old*

"Mama, when is Boruto coming home?" I ask.

Mama looks startled at the question and blinks wearily before cuddling me.

"Boruto will be home soon darling. Don't worry about a thing." She reassures brushing my hair back.

"And Papa? He'll be home soon too?" I ask.

Mama doesn't answer this time, simply squeezing me tighter in a hug and letting a shaky breath out.

"Would you like to play with Himawari?" She asks.

"Mama, I can't skip my lessons. How else am I going to become Queen? The Queen doesn't choose playtime over her duties. Just look at Aunty Hinata, she's not putting off any time to play!" I beg.

Mama's eyebrows crinkle together and she pouts furiously.

"Sarada Mikoto Uchiha, don't be silly. You need to have some time to play with your friends. And...they really need it, okay?" I feel bad now and tears start leaking out. Much more softly this time Mama speaks, "take the time to be a kid okay? I know you'll be the best Queen ever alright?"

"Okay Mama." I hug her tightly.

"Let's go play with Hima!" I grin.

Mama ruffles my hair and smiles, "It'll just be you two and a guard today. I have to go to the healer bay." She informs, "is that okay with you?" She adds.

I scowl but nod. Mama has work to do...but I want her with me.

"It's fine. Will Papa be here later though?"

"I hope so." She sighs.

Hima giggles as we paint all over our guard's face.

With the contrasting patterns of purple and orange he looks positively adorable if I do say so myself.

"Go get some glitter Hima!" I grin.

The guard grimaces at my suggestion and another giggle makes it way out of my throat.

Mama was right, it's good to be a kid.

I wish Boruto would come back from his trip already! This would've been much more fun. He's a really good drawer! But I'm still better.

"This is quite cruel, Princess Sarada." The guard protests but a smile dances on his pretty lips in a way that says he really doesn't matter.

"I'm not the princess silly. But one day I will become Queen!" I giggle.

"I know you will sweetie." He presses a kiss to my hand and bows.

"Princess Sarada, soon to be Queen of all the nations." He gives me a dazzling smile and bows, "I bow to you, princess."

I turn away smiling and clap.
