Chapter 33 - The Sacrifice

                                    

                                          
Elena called Kassidy to get her help with something. Elena wouldn't tell her what, but Kassidy knew they were going to end up going to Slater's apartment. Elena picks Kassidy up and they go to the Salvatore Boarding House so Elena can talk to Rose.
Elena opens the front door to the house and walks in with Kassidy following her. She shuts the door behind her and looks around the hallway. Rose comes down the stairs, tying a silk robe around her.
"It's not nice to leave a girl naked so early in the morning." Rose says before looking up and seeing Kassidy and Elena. "Whoa. Sorry, I thought you were..."
"Damon...yeah we're not." Kassidy says with a grimace as Elena looks away embarrassed.
"I, uh, sorry, I..." Elena stutters
"There's no one else here." Rose says
"Actually, I came to talk to you."
"And she dragged me with." Kassidy says
"Then I should probably get dressed." Rose says before walking upstairs to get dressed.
When she comes back down, they go into the parlor and Elena tells Rose and Kassidy what she wants to do.
"It's a bad idea." Rose says
"No, it's not. From what Stefan told me, your friend Slater obviously has more information about Klaus. You and Damon just gave up before you got it."
"Because someone blew up a coffee shop with us in it." Kassidy says. "Slater and Rose don't have daylight rings. They had to get out of there and we went home."
"There's more to learn. We just have to find a way to learn it."
"Why are you coming to me with this?" Rose asks
"Because you owe me. One word from me, and Damon and Stefan could have killed you for kidnapping me. Or I could have Kassidy do it."
"I'm not your slave, Elena. I don't follow your orders. I killed Trevor for kidnapping us. I'm not going to do anything to Rose unless she does something to me first." Kassidy says
"Or maybe it's because you know that they wouldn't want you doing this. And their moonstone caper gives you a chance to sneak away." Rose says to Elena.
"That's exactly the reason." 
"Why aren't you helping with the moonstone caper?" Rose asks Kassidy
Kassidy shrugs. "Bonnie said she had it handled, but I think it's because Damon is freaked about the whole soulmate thing, even though it's with Kol and not Klaus."
"Why don't you care about the soulmate thing?" Rose asked Elena.
"Because Kassidy can't control that and she has been trying to help this entire time. She has never even met Kol. Her being soulmates with Kol has nothing to do with Klaus. The Salvatores and I are having a disagreement. They're willing to risk everyone that I love and I'm not." Elena says
"They're just trying to protect you." Rose says
"And you've proven that you couldn't care less whether I'm protected or not. So, we're back to you taking us to Slater."
Rose sits down next to Elena. "What exactly do you hope to achieve by this?"
"How would you like to be able to walk during the daylight?" 
"I've been a slave to shadows for 500 years, what do you think?"
"I think I know a witch who's willing to do whatever it takes to help, if you're willing to make a deal." Elena says and Kassidy rolls her eyes knowing that Elena is lying. One she won't even talk to Bonnie about it and two, even if she did, Bonnie wouldn't make it, but Rose doesn't know that so she agrees.
