"I've heard about crazy cat ladies, but your mother is the first crazy dog lady I have ever met," Hisashi joked with his son.
Izuku laughed at the joke his father made.
"At the apartment we lived in before moving here, we weren't allowed pets," Izuku remembered. "Mom is probably trying to make up for lost time."
"For the future, please don't adopt every animal you see," Hisashi playfully pleaded with his son. "I love dogs as much as anyone, but I also would prefer to not find myself covered in dog hair after having the mutt sleep on top of me all night."
"Aw! Don't be like that, Hisashi," Inko said from her place on the couch. "Kiyo just wants to spend time with his new dad!"
"I think we both know that dog is our first grandchild, honey," Hisashi tells his wife.
"Child, grandchild, whatever label we can use to make sure it's known that this adorable little angel is a part of our family," Inko said.
She went back to giving their new dog belly rubs on the couch. The Shiba Inu was soaking up the attention like a sponge.
"You brought this on us, Izuku," Hisashi said. "You were the one who brought that mutt home."
"Kiyo is a purebred dog and you know it, dad," Izuku said.
"I never claimed to be a dog expert, son," Hisashi ruffled his son's hair.
"Again with the hair," Izuku tried and failed to get his hair under control.
"My father did the same thing to me all my life, so I am carrying on the tradition," Hisashi smirked.
"Great. Just great," Izuku grumbled.
"It's not my fault you have a head of hair so cute that I have to ruffle it," Hisashi chuckled.
He ruffled Izuku's hair again just to prove his point. Izuku adorably slapped his father's hand away, looking like a kitten when he did.
Kiyo was the dog that Izuku had rescued from the beartrap. After getting the dog to the animal shelter and getting Koda's help, Kiyo got onto the fast path to recovery. It was soon discovered that the dog had been abandoned. Its previous family had recently moved and left it behind. It was a recent thing, which was why the dog still looked mostly fine other than the beartrap injury.
Izuku could never leave an animal out to dry after it had just lost so much. It helped that the dog did end up becoming fond of him after it woke up from the pollen-induced sleep and saw how well it had been taken care of. Izuku had not left its side, making sure the dog got properly healed. So, after talking with his parents, they decided to bring the dog into their family. Inko, apparently, was a big dog person and was rarely ever away from it. And as much as Hisashi complained about the dog hair, he loved their new family pet as well.
Seeing his mom on the couch with the dog and giving it plenty of pets and cuddles did give Izuku a fun thought of how to tease his father.
"You're probably just jealous that mom is giving Kiyo more cuddles than you," he smirked.
Hisashi turned red as smoke embarrassingly came out of his ears. A funny side effect of his fire breath Quirk whenever he got embarrassed.
"You are the only kid who is not embarrassed over thinking of his parents having romantic moments," Hisashi was incredibly red-faced.
"If it was a thing, you two would have been voted the most adorable married couple in Japan," Izuku says. "I'm too used to how you two act around each other to be affected in any way."
