So here it is! "Engine Boy, I Love You!" and the conclusion of Iida and Hatsume's love story is now officially complete! Once again, I truly cannot thank you all enough for reading and supporting this emotional rollercoaster of a fic. I genuinely think that between this, Love-Coach Ochako, and all of my past fics, this one, even though it's on the shorter end, may very well be my best work. EBILY has always gotten so much praise for how I write the characters, and I can't emphasize how proud that makes me feel. It was truly such a pleasure to try my hand at Iida and Hatsume's unique personalities, and it turned out to be so, so much fun. Writing this was seriously a blast, so I'm sad that it's come to an end.
I guess the question now, is: "now what?" Well, honestly, like Iida emphasized in the fic, the future is uncertain! I would absolutely love to keep making Iidamei one-shots, but at least for now, I am going to sadly have to take an indefinite break. The blessing of just making one-offs though is that I can theoretically make them whenever without following any sort of schedule, so I'm sure that one day I'll get around to creating more. I have so many ideas that I never got to use—the prelude at the start of chapter 1 features a grown up Iida saying: "I let you go not once, but twice." but I never got around to addressing that because I ran out of time in this fic. I really want to touch on their lives as adults (and even as parents!) one day, but at least for now, I'm going to have to leave all of this up to your interpretations as readers.
As I did with my past fanfics though, I plan to write one last bonus chapter featuring all of the deleted content for this fic. There's admittedly not a ton, because I did end up writing most of it (I have a lot more deleted scenes for LCO lol). But for those of you who don't think you'll still be here years down the line whenever I write Iida and Hatsume's grown up love story, you'll be able to see my ideas all there on paper with spoilers.
Anyway, with all of that said, thank you for the millionth time for reading this dear series of mine! I'm happy I was able to touch so many of your hearts, and I encourage those of you who liked my writing style to keep an eye out for when my Webtoon Inksoul debuts later this year.
