The next tasks they received were quickly completed.
Avaluna directed her attention mostly towards Asta. She felt bad for the boy, he couldn't complete anything that was requested. Yuno in the other hand, impressed the blonde girl a few times, as he finished first and with ease every singular time.

"That dude isn't really much, huh?"
Leopold nudged her giving her a grin.

"He has so much potential but just these tasks are bringing him down.." She said sadly.
Leopold gave her a questionable expression, not knowing why she thinks a commoner with no magic could have any potential at all.

"Next is the finals test. In this test, you will engage in actual combat. You will pair up with someone and fight them! You may use your Grimoire, I'm sure you've mastered one or two attack spells, right? The main job of a knight is battle. Feel free to show us what you're capable of."

Avaluna looked down at Asta with a more hopeful expression now.
After William announced that their final task is to battle, she knew that, this was the opportunity to show himself off to the Captains.
She knew without a doubt that the boy trained hard every single day.

"Looks like your friend has no one to team up with." William whispered to the girl, which turned her head to Yuno.

"I'm sure some snug noble will think they can easily defeat him. See?"
Before she was able to finish her sentence a blonde guy made his way up to Yuno.

"You up there!" The chatter in the arena got quickly quiet.

Avaluna Pøv

"You up there!" I heard a male voice yell from below me.
As I look down, I see a guy who was also clearly noble pointing at me.
Confused I look at William before I turn back go the guy.

"What?-"
"How come you are so special that you demonstrate every singular test we have to complete, but when it comes to battle you can sit back and relax?"
He cut me off before I could ask what he wanted and certainly I did not expect this.

I scoff as I turn to look at William, who held back a smile.
Yami and Jack thought bursted out laughing.
It took Jack a couple second before he spoke for me.
"Believe me Kid, you do not wanna compete against her!" He said smiling.

"It's just fair, isn't it? Seeing as she has no Magic Knight's cloak she isn't one of you! It seems as if she's just a show off!"

William eventually raised his hand to shut the boy up.
He must be so proud to speak up or he's just stupid.
I turned to look at the Captain, which gave me a little nod for me to proceed.
In the corner of my eye I saw Leopold grinning, widely.
With no hesitation I grabbed onto the railing, swinging myself over it as I land in front of the brunette.

"The names Avaluna, pleasure." I say as I reach out my hand, which he surprisingly shook.

"My names Niklaus, I want you to show me everything you've got, little girl." His words struck a nerve in me.
Little Girl?
"I may recall the Captain of the Green Mantis warned you, himself. Don't blame me if I hurt your ego."

He scoffed at me, rolling his eyes.
I make my way to the center of the arena, the place began to clear, leaving a big enough space to do combat.
I gave Asta and Yuno a smile, that both of them returned, while  Asta began to yell,  to cheer me on, while Yuno tried to shut him up to not distract us.

Niklaus let his Grimoire out of his holder, and the three leaf clover on his cover caught my eye.
Not paying much attention to him before it could be possible he has steel magic, with the kind of cover he has.
Looking at him, he gave me a smug smile.

As I didn't break eye contact, I let my Grimoire make an appearance out of thin air. I let its mana spread out in the entire arena like wildfire.
His smile quickly faded and turned into regret as the four leaf clover on my book was noticeable.
I admit it wasn't necessary, but his change of expression was worth to show off.

"The match is over when a competitor gives up or can't fight anymore. We have a mage who can use healing magic in tow, so fight freely."
William finished his sentence and the boy prepared the first spell.

"Steel Magic, Arrow of Wrath!"
A big arrow formed above him, pointing directly at me before it fired.

"Astral Magic, Earths Density"
My currently only shield spell, that I used the first time while training with Yami.
The atmosphere around me hardened, making the arrow split at the collision with my shield.

"What?-" Niklaus eyes widened, seeing his arrow simply fall apart, when I haven't even moved an inch.

"Is that all?" I tilt my head looking at him.
Niklaus gave me an angry look mumbling something when suddenly a compass in his hands appeared and began to glow.
He directed it towards me, bringing me to tumble.
"Not bad, I didn't expect this to happen. A compass that takes your opponents sense of orientation."
He laughs, seeing me wobble on my legs.

"See only a show off. Not much behind it."
I sigh shaking my head to his statement.
"Unfortunately it takes a lot more to throw someone with more experience, off."
My Grimoire flipped a few pages while I closed my eyes, making it easier to fight, than seeing the world spin around.
He began to sprint, getting closer and closer to me, not knowing I see every step he's taking.

"Steel Magic, Cains of Judgement!" He yells and charges at me.

"Astral Magic, Jupiters Gravity."
He got sucked to the floor, unable to move.
I gave him a few moments to show off but I don't want to stretch this out.
The arena fell silent, waiting to see if he can continue but for him there was no chance he could.

"I.. I can't move." He mumbled.

The crowd didn't cheer, except Asta of course but the rest were mostly just shocked.
They stared in silence as William announced that I've won and with that he called me back up.

"May the next pair, come forward."
He said and this was the moment Asta and his opponent walked up.
I leaned on the railing, eager to watch.
The other guy whispered in Asta ear, something that no one could hear and Astas smile dropped.
Then he stepped back before he constructed something out of his magic, it looked like a spikey ball.
The folks around started to chatter and I clearly heard things like Asta could never win and he should just give up, before he gets hurt.

"Don't hold back, I'm ready for ya!"
With no hesitation Asta charged at him summoning his sword and slamming him to the ground.
He was incredibly fast and he got stronger.
"I'm not here just to join the magic knights and have a blast without putting in any effort. I'm here to work my butt off and become the wizard king!" Asta spoke to the other guy.
Now I am sure he told him something to demotivate the boy. Unsuccessfully.
I turn my head to Yami who had a grin on his face.
I've hoped that he will take him in, I already knew that the rest wouldn't take him.

This is a long chapter, and I wrote it entirely in my lunch break so I'm not sure if it's messy. I was in a flow I'd say
