2 Weeks Later

It's been two weeks since Dani and I broke up and the last time we saw or heard from each other was when I told her I made it home safely after the funeral. I haven't made the effort to talk to her because it just wouldn't be fair and I'm sure she's just waiting for the moment I do. At least I hope she is as selfish as it is.

It's now the day of the hearing for the divorce case and I'm not ready. What sucks is even more is that I have Shiloh sitting right next to me as we sit in this cold ass courtroom and this could potentially be the last time I see him. He's been pretty distant with me too since Dani left that night. He's not mad at me like he's made clear to me when he does speak to me but he's mad I couldn't come up with any ideas to keep her around. But I didn't want to hide her or lie under oath about our relationship. It would only make things worse. He's wearing a white button up and a black tie with his black slacks. His hair has grown out a lot in these past 3 months so his short curls are now long and he has it in a low ponytail. Kinda reminds me of Dani.

The sound of the door opening makes him look back but I already know who it is. He huffs and turns back around. "You don't think they'll actually make me go with him do you?" He asks and I look at him.

"Baby I don't want to lie to you. I can't promise anything."

"But you're better than him." He gestures to James who is supposed to be his godfather and I sigh. I go to respond.

"All rise!" The bailiff says when the judge enters and we all stand. "You may be seated!"

"Welcome Council." Judge Carter says. I've worked with him on multiple divorce cases before I was a prosecutor. He's a fair judge. Kids of his own. Beautiful family. I envy him.

"Good after noon your honor." James and I say at the same time.

He smiles. "Now. I'm under the impression that council Sims you and your husband are getting a divorce."

"Correct your honor." I say.

"Sorry to hear that. But I've also been informed that agreements have been made."

"Correct again your honor." I say and I swallow knowing what's about to happen.

He sighs. "But of course the biggest one that could've made this real quick and hopefully painless has not been agreed upon."

I sigh and try to put on my face that I put on every time I come in a courtroom. "Unfortunately so your honor."

He nods and looks at James and Samuel. "Council Freeman. What say the custody of this here Shiloh King-Sims?" He asks James.

James and Samuel stand up. James sighs and clears his throat. "Sole custody your honor."

I frown in disbelief. And Samuel smirks over at me and they sit down. "Council?" The judge calls for me but my eyes are stuck on the man who I used love more than myself. And now I see the devil trying to take away my son. "Council?" The judge calls again and I blink away.

I clear my throat and stand up. "Um yes your honor?"

He sighs and nods. "I understand the feeling you must be in right now. But please be alert in my courtroom." I nod. "Now what say the custody of this here Shiloh King-Sims?" He asks.

I look down at Shiloh. "Sole custody your honor." I hear Samuel scoff.

"Watch yourself Mr. Sims. I'm a fair man but I will dismiss this in favor of Ms. King here if you interrupt again with your disrespect." The judge says and I fight the smile on my face as he uses my maiden name. Samuel nods and sinks in his chair. "Council you may be seated. Now. This is when things get serious and complicated for not only you two but for you, Shiloh." He says directing his eyes to my son.
