Cole lets go of me and walks back to his chair. I stare at him contemplating my feelings for him. He's been here. My mate hasn't. The most I have gotten from my mate is just a few texts. I understand I shouldn't have run away but that's in the past.
"Your office is going to need remodeling too." Cole interrupts my thoughts.
"My office?" I ask confused.
"Yeah. Your office. You're the mate to the new Alpha, correct?"
"I'm not sure now. As you pointed out, I have no idea who he is. " I say with a sour tone.
"Yes, but you did say he confirmed you are his mate when he texted you, correct? Besides, I can guarantee the scent you smelled in the bedroom was that of the new Alpha. "
"How do I know you're not lying to me again?" I ask suspiciously.
"I'm not. " Cole says matter of fact.
"Pick out the new furniture for the Luna office that's connected to this one. " Cole continues.
Opening up my laptop I start to browse the furniture and think about what I want for my office. I'd like a more comfortable feeling when I do my counseling. I ordered two couches and a desk. I look over at Cole who is currently absentmindedly spinning around in the Alpha's chair. I could use one of those. I'll just have to remind myself not to let him in my office. He might break my chair. With the force he's using to spin currently, I'm surprised he hasn't broken the chair he's using.
I look at picture frames and decide to get some of those for my family photos. I remember how Cole said the Alpha would like a picture of me in his office. I guess I can give him that as well. Considering he hasn't answered my texts, I know the perfect picture for him. I pull out my phone and take a picture of me holding up my middle finger to the camera. Immature, absolutely. Deserved? I think so.
Cole looks at me and shakes his head.
"What?" I ask.
"Why are you taking a picture of yourself flipping the camera off?" He asks with a frown.
"You said my mate would like a picture of me in his office. " I say casually.
"I meant something sweet, like a picture of you smiling. He's going to throw that away. It's very unprofessional. "
"Shouldn't my mate be grateful for any picture I decide to give him? It's a gift. "
Cole shakes his head and sighs. "You're right. I suppose he'll have to keep that one. You might have a lot of people look down on you as a Luna though. It screams unprofessional. "
"My mate doesn't have to place it where other people can see it. He can place it on top of his papers in his drawer. "
"Why don't you try one of you smiling?"
"Why don't you give him a picture of you? If you want to be the picture critic then you can give him one of your own. " I say
"I have a better idea. Why don't we give him a picture of the two of us?" Cole asks
"You don't think he'll get jealous or angry?" I ask unsure.
"Not a chance. I'm sure he'll love it. "
Cole gestures towards the chair and pulls me on his lap. I'm not so sure about this. Before I could object, Cole pulled out his phone with the camera open.
"Smile," he says
Cole quickly takes a picture. I look at the picture and Cole is smiling with his arm around me in his lap while I am glaring at him.
"It's perfect. " He says chuckling.
I hear a printer turn on in the back of the office and watch as Cole walks towards it. Cole grabs an empty picture frame and places the photo in the frame. He then walks towards the desk and places the frame on the desk.
Wow.
"Our Alpha is going to be angry that's on his desk. " I say in panic.
"Relax. He has already stepped down. Your mate is currently running this pack. He will love it."
"How can he run the pack but not be on the territory?" I ask confused.
"Did your previous Alpha never travel for work?" Cole asks surprised.
"Not that I'm aware of."
Cole gets a serious expression on his face and turns the desktop computer on.
"What are you doing?" I ask walking over to my chair and sitting down. I roll the wheels to where Cole is seated so that I'm close to Cole but not touching him.
"I'm looking at the current status the pack has with other packs. " Cole says in a rush.
"Is that important?" I ask hesitantly.
"It is very important. The more allies and deals you have as a pack helps protect you and increase your supplies."
Cole has a concentrated look on his face. I wonder what he is thinking. I want to ask him more questions but I can tell he's busy. I watch as Cole starts typing and printing off papers. After ten minutes of watching Cole type and roll to the printer on his chair repeatedly, I began to get worried.
"Is everything okay?" I ask hesitantly
"No!" Cole yells suddenly angry.
"What's wrong?" I ask suddenly concerned.
"Your previous Alpha did nothing! Absolutely nothing! I have to start from scratch and make deals with packs. I have to make allies! He just sat on his ass!"
"Shouldn't my mate be doing that?" I say in a whisper. I don't want Cole to get angrier. Angry Cole is quite a frightening sight.
"Do you see him here Natalie? Who's here doing the work?" Cole says rolling his eyes.
"You are. " I whisper.
"Exactly. " Cole says giving me a pointed look.
"He won't get angry at you for doing his work?" I ask.
I suddenly find myself afraid of what could happen to Cole for doing Alpha work when he's only cleared as a beta. Would my mate be understanding?
"Cole?"
"Yes, Natalie?"
"Is my mate an understanding man?"
Cole takes a moment to think about his answer. He has a thoughtful look on his face. He turns, grabs a handful of goldfish from his box that he found in the office, and shoves them in his mouth. Then he proceeded to shrug.
Really? That's all I get? What kind of answer is that?
"Are you almost finished?" I realize that it has started to rain. Walking back home in the rain is going to be fun.
"Not even close. I can finish this at the Alpha's house that the pack just got through building though. Your previous Alpha gave me the keys. " Cole says holding up the keys.
"Oh okay. I guess I'll see you around. " I say opening the office door.
"You don't want to see your new house?" Cole says smirking.
"My new house?"
"You are the new Luna, so that makes the new Alpha house yours, too. " Cole says throwing the keys up in the air.
"You're right! I get a new house. " Say excitedly.
Cole begins to laugh and grabs his stuff off the desk. He then turns and walks out the office door. I proceeded to follow him out the door and to my new house.
