Sidney leads him through the tunnel, which empties into a large cave-like room with a dome-shaped ceiling. In the center of the room is a table with a cluster of weapons and past that is a target sheet like policemen use for firing guns at.
"So, you want to be an Expert Spy?"
"Yeah! I think spies are cool! I mean James Bond, Black Widow, Alexander Ovechkin..." Tyler remarks.
Sidney grabs Tyler by the collar of his shirt. "First of all, don't mention that traitor's name! He was easily brainwashed by those mafia bastards! Yeah, I heard about what happened with the Blackhawks and your Russian liney!"
Tyler nods. "Okay. But yeah, spies are cool and I wouldn't mind learning how to fire a gun..."
Sidney releases him. "Then lets get started. Pick your weapon."
Tyler brushes himself off and walks up to the table. He picks up a small black handgun like what a policeman might use. He holds it up and aims it at the target. Then he sets it back down. He starts to move toward a rifle gun but he stops. He turns to Sidney, spotting him standing with his hands on his hips. Tyler spins back and spots some gadget weapons. A bunch of tiny black puck-like discs.
"What are these?" he asks Sidney.
"I like to call them zappers, feel free to pick one up and throw it at the ground."
Tyler does so. He picks one up and throws it at the ground. A lightning type electric shock shoots out of the top. The Dallas Star gasps and "oohs". He smiles and nods. He spins back to Sidney. "I've made my choice. I think I'm stay simple with the weaponry with the handgun, but I'd like the 'zappers'...if I am going to be like a spy...those are necessary, right Sidney?"
Sidney nods. "Correct. Which spy are you looking at replicating the most though?"
"I was thinking Black Widow. She's hot for one, but I like her style. I relate to her a lot and she is my favorite Marvel hero!" Tyler remarks picking the handgun up again and surveying it.
Sidney laughs. "Naturally you would find her irresistible to your own desires, eh? You're such a player, Tyler Seguin..."
Tyler flashes him a smoldering wink. "You have no idea just how flattering I can be Sid!"
"Oh, I do. I've seen the signs, I know about the "Seguinistas"...personally that's okay but you mustn't let looks or "hot women" cloud your vision. For all you know, they could be playing you, like Natasha does. You must bite back...unfortunately you are neither a woman nor a Russian spy, so you are not a Black Widow...but maybe you can have a sting?"
"Sting? Like a scorpion?" Tyler questions, raising an eyebrow in curiosity.
"Yes!"
"A Scorpion, eh?" Tyler flips the gun in his hand skillfully and then spins on his heels and points the weapon at the target. "Sting or be stung!" He pulled back on the trigger and sends a trio of shots out of the gun, standing his ground.
Sidney cocks his head with interest and bites his lip. Tyler's a natural with the gun. There is not much training he will need. The combat part of the spy training however...Sidney isn't so sure. Tyler isn't a fighter and the worst damage he has done has been tackling Ryan Kesler during a game.
Tyler spins the gun in his hand again and blows on the barrel as though "cooling it down". He whirls back around to see Sidney smiling.
"You're a natural with the gun! You have any training before?"
Tyler shakes his head. "My past is something I prefer not to bring up or talk about. Not even Jamie knows. But I haven't had any sort of training, I guess it's just in my genes or something." He shrugs.
Sidney nods. "Well, Scorpion, let's move on to enhancing your combat skills. I know you aren't a fighter on the ice, but you'll need to learn. If you are to be a spy, you must be willing to fight an enemy!"
"Can't I just put a few bullets in them?"
"No. You won't always have your guns handy to use. Occasionally you'll lose 'em. You must learn to fend people off without them."
"What about the zappers?"
"You could lose them too. Look, Tyler, I'm trying to help you become a worldclass spy here like Widow. If you aren't willing to learn, you can forget about it."
Tyler sighs. "Alright, teach me how to fight. But I better not get in trouble for fighting."
"You won't, this isn't the NHL remember. You're going to fight bad guys."
"Oh! In that case, it makes a ton of sense that I learn how to fight!"
"Exactly. Now," Sidney says before he suddenly snatches the gun away and throws it to the side. "Punch me in the face really hard."
Tyler cocks his head. He frowns and narrows his eyes at the Penguin. "Well, a Black Widow may bite, but a Scorpion stings. And if I be but a scorpion, best beware my sting. If you aren't careful, you'll get more than a pinch." He clenches a fist and then raises it up.
"Are you going to talk me to death pretty boy?" Sidney snarls.
Tyler launches the fist at Sidney, who blocks his blow easily. He grabs Tyler's arm and flips him over onto his back on the ground.
"You call that a sting? You're gonna have to be quicker and cleverer than that!" Sidney taunts, releasing Tyler's arm and shoving the table with the guns out of the way to clear more of a battle space for them.
Tyler scrambles back to his feet. He runs at Sidney and leaps into the air, using Sidney's shoulders as a helpful crutch, as he springs up and over in a back flip over the Penguin. Tyler lands on the ground, tosses his head to the side and then runs at Sidney, slewfooting him from behind. Sidney falls to the ground in shock. "Better?" Tyler boasts, folding his arms and raising his head up proudly.
"Much better Tyler!" Sidney commends him.
"Please, call me Black Scorpion!" Tyler exclaims, cockily.
Sidney snickers. "Of course Black Scorpion. There is more training you will need, but we'll cover that later on. For now, you are a basic spy."
"Thanks Sidney. I really appreciate this. And I figure people can just call me Scorpion if they want, it'll be easier for everyone. I can't wait to tell Jamie and Brad and Val and everyone!"
"Well Black Scorpion or Scorpion, you can't tell Jamie."
"Why not?" Tyler asks, fetching the gun from the side and putting the safety on before stuffing it into the waistline of his jeans.
"Jamie's not...one of us...it's hard to explain."
"What about Brad?"
"Him neither."
"Val?"
Sidney shakes his head. "I know it is tough, but it's for your own protection, as well as mine and any other hero. If you tell people, it will spread...You aren't a seasoned pro like me yet and I won't be a flippin' babysitter for you either. I'm not going to come to your rescue or save you or anything."
Tyler nods. "Fair enough." He whips his phone out and sees a message from Jamie. "This better not be about Cash or Marshall," Tyler groans as he slides open his phone and reads the message. He looks up at Sidney.
"Is it your dogs?" Sidney questions.
"No, it's Val. He's in trouble. He's been kidnapped by someone! I have to go! I can save him!" Tyler exclaims, snatching the torch from where Sidney had set it in the room.
"No! Tyler, you're not ready!" Sidney shouts as Tyler races back down the tunnel and puts the torch back into the slot. Sidney gives chase, but when he skids into the living room, Tyler and his stuff is gone. Sidney shakes his head and mutters to himself, "This isn't good!"
