Sitting in my lecture hall, I glanced at the notebook placed in front of me.
It's been two weeks since I got married. In these two weeks, I've learned a bit about balancing my studies with married life. And about Mr. Singhania... he's so strange. Sometimes, he's fine—almost normal—and other times, he's so rude, like he's always high on mood swings. I can never predict which version of him I'll get each day.
Talking about Dadi, well, she still taunts me for the littlest things. I know I'm a bit clumsy, but sometimes her behavior makes me want to cry.
The memories of that particular day are still fresh in my mind, the day she asked me how my relationship was going with her grandson. When I told her we were on good terms, she seriously suggested that I should give her a great-grandson.
Like, seriously?
I came back from my thoughts when Kritika shook me slightly. "Where are you lost?" she asked quietly, and I just shook my head, trying to focus.
As I adjusted myself in my seat, my pen slipped from my hand and fell to the floor. I bent down to pick it up, and when I sat back properly in the chair, I noticed Kritika's eyes wide in shock.
I raised my eyebrows, silently asking what she meant, but she didn't say anything. Instead, she covered her mouth with one hand, like she was in utter shock.
"What happened to you?" I asked, glancing at Sia, who was now staring at me with the same shocked expression as Kritika.
"You're both acting like you've seen a ghost," I mocked them, trying to lighten the mood, but the seriousness in their eyes made me feel uneasy.
Tara turned towards me, and her eyes immediately drifted to my neck. I followed her gaze, and my ground slipped beneath my feet.
My nuptial chain was visible.
Gosh, what the hell?
How could I have been so careless?
How could it be?
