The following morning, a heavy mist clung to the Arden estate, shrouding the grounds in an eerie silence. Elysia woke early, her senses sharp and ready for the day ahead. She could feel it in the air—something was about to change. But whether it would be in her favor or against her, she was determined to stay one step ahead.

---

In the grand dining hall, the family gathered for breakfast. Elysia quietly observed her siblings as they chatted about the upcoming festival in the capital. Leon and Marcus were planning to attend, eager to showcase their talents in the swordsmanship competitions. Even her younger brother, Damian, was excitedly talking about the food stalls and games.

"Elysia, are you coming to the festival?" Damian asked, his eyes shining with anticipation.

Elysia gave him a warm smile. "I might. But I have some things to take care of first."

Her answer was vague on purpose. In truth, she was considering attending, but not for leisure. The festival would be the perfect opportunity for those with ill intentions to strike, and she needed to be ready for anything.

As breakfast continued, Elysia noticed Mira hovering nervously near the entrance, her eyes darting between the family members. Elysia's instincts screamed that something was off. She subtly glanced at Aiden, who was lingering nearby, blending in as one of the many servants. He gave her a slight nod, indicating that he was ready to begin his investigation.

---

After breakfast, Elysia retreated to the estate's library, where she could think in peace. Aiden had slipped away, his task clear: follow Mira and uncover her secrets. Elysia's fingers traced the spine of an old book as she mulled over her next move. Her enemies were hiding in plain sight, but she wouldn't allow them to gain the upper hand.

As she scanned the rows of books, she sensed someone entering the library. Without turning, she spoke. "Leon, you're here early."

Her eldest brother's deep voice answered. "You've gotten too sharp, Elysia. I barely made a sound."

Elysia turned to face him, raising an eyebrow. "What brings you here? It's unusual for you to seek me out unless something's bothering you."

Leon sighed, running a hand through his dark hair. "I've been worried about you. You've changed lately—you're more cautious, more calculating. I can't put my finger on it, but something's different."

Elysia held his gaze, weighing her words carefully. "It's nothing, really. I'm just growing up and learning that this world isn't as simple as it seems."

Leon's eyes narrowed slightly. "Are you hiding something?"

Elysia smiled softly, though it didn't reach her eyes. "We all have our secrets, Leon. But I promise you, everything I do is for the sake of our family."

Leon studied her for a long moment before finally nodding. "Just... don't shoulder everything alone. You're not as alone as you think."

With that, he left, leaving Elysia alone in the quiet library. She appreciated her brother's concern, but there were things he couldn't understand. This was a game where the stakes were life and death, and she couldn't afford to show weakness—not even to her own family.

---

Meanwhile, Aiden was silently tailing Mira as she went about her duties. She seemed more jittery than usual, flinching at every sudden noise and glancing over her shoulder constantly. Aiden kept his distance, expertly blending into the background as he watched her interact with the other maids.

As the day wore on, Mira made her way to a secluded corner of the estate, where she met with a man in a dark cloak. Aiden's eyes narrowed as he listened in from a hidden vantage point.

"Are you sure she hasn't noticed anything?" the cloaked man whispered harshly.

"I-I think she suspects something," Mira stammered, her voice trembling. "Lady Elysia is too sharp. I can't keep lying to her much longer."

The man's grip tightened on her arm. "You will continue the mission, no matter what. If she finds out, you'll be dealt with—along with your entire family. Do you understand?"

Mira nodded frantically, tears welling in her eyes. "Yes... I understand."

Satisfied, the man released her and vanished into the shadows, leaving Mira standing there, shaking with fear. Aiden's expression darkened as he took in the exchange. It seemed Mira was caught in a web of threats and coercion, but that didn't change the fact that she was a liability. Elysia needed to know everything.

---

Back at the estate, Elysia was meeting with her tutor when she heard a soft knock at the door. The tutor, an elderly man with a kind face, paused mid-lesson as one of the servants entered.

"Lady Elysia, you have a visitor. It's Aiden," the servant announced.

Elysia nodded, dismissing the tutor for the time being. Once they were alone, Aiden entered the room, his usual playful demeanor replaced by a grim expression.

"I found out who she's working with," Aiden said without preamble. "There's a man in a cloak—clearly a professional. He's threatening Mira into spying on you. It seems like she doesn't want to do it, but she's too scared to refuse."

Elysia's eyes hardened. "So, they've already made their move."

Aiden crossed his arms, leaning against the wall. "What do you want to do about it?"

Elysia fell silent, deep in thought. Mira's loyalty was compromised, but it wasn't entirely her fault. She was being manipulated and used as a pawn. Elysia couldn't simply discard her without risking further suspicion, but she couldn't allow a spy to roam freely in her home either.

"I'll confront her," Elysia decided. "But not directly. I want to test her resolve first. If she truly wants to be loyal, I'll give her a way out. But if she's too far gone, we'll need to take care of it—quietly."

Aiden nodded. "Understood. I'll be ready for whatever you decide."

As Aiden left, Elysia's expression remained unreadable. She would give Mira one last chance to prove herself, but there was no room for weakness in this game. The stakes were too high.
