It's the first day of school after the holidays. 1989 groaned at the sound of her alarm clock. Getting up for school in the morning was definitely not her favorite thing to do. She grabbed her phone quickly replying to messages from her friend Speak Now and headed towards the closet wondering what to wear.

It's warm outside so she decided on light colored jeans and a white top with lace trim. She combed her straight blonde hair and went to the bathroom to get ready for school. When she finished doing her makeup she grabbed her bag and ran down the stairs. Her parents weren't home, "thank god" she thought and left the house not wanting to be late on the first day. The walk to school usually took her about 20 minutes. She walked listening to music on her headphones and hoping that this school year would be peaceful without any suprises.

When she crossed the threshold of the school she was immediately struck by the noise of conversations, people were pushing past each other and there was total chaos. She wanted to get to her locker, where she had arranged to meet her friends - Red and Speak Now. She had known them for as long as she could remember. As she was walking she suddenly felt a hand on her shoulder, she turned around and saw Speak Now dressed in a delicate purple dress, and her hair was tied in a messy ponytail.

"Hi!" Speak Now said trying to shout over the people.

"Omg hi, you look gorgeous" 1989 replied, Speak Now's eyes lit up. They started walking to 1989's locker

"I was wondering where's Red, we were supposted to met at the entrance  but she wasn't there" the girl in purple dress said rolling her eyes.

"She's probably at the bathroom with her new boyfriend" 1989 said and they both laughed.

Red every week found herself a new crush. And everytime she got a boyfriend, she always said that he was the love her life and when they broke up she cursed him. Classic Red.

"What do you have first? I have french with Red" 1989 asked when she was taking a few books out of the locker.

"English, I still can't belive you chose biology and french this year, it's so boring" Speak Now sighed and looked at her phone.

"I have to go! The lesson is starting soon and I have to go through the whole school to get to the class, for God's sake! Bye 1989!" Speak Now screamed and quickly headed towards the English classroom.

"Red is probably gonna be late" she said under her breathe rolling her blue eyes. 1989 walked towards the French classroom and stood by the door hoping to see her friend somewhere.

"Excuse me" the girl heard behind her back and turned around looking at the not tall girl with a storm of curly hair on her head. She was wearing a white dress with cowboy boots. 1989 had never seen her before.

"Hi, can I help you?" she said kindly with a smile on her face.

"I'm new and I can't find principal's office, could you help me please?"

"Of course, keep going straight to the end of the corridor and turn left,  there is a sign on the door so you'll find it" 1989 she said and the girl smiled broadly.

"Thanks, I'm Debut by the way" she introduced herself.

"Nice to meet you, I'm 1989" she replied and at the same moment the bell rang, the shorter girl said goodbye and went her way.

As the lesson started 1989 sat at the back of the class, hoping that Red runs into the classroom and sit next to her. The teacher started lesson with asking about holidays and all that stuff. After 15 minutes the door opened and one of those popular girls came into the class. Her hair was messy, she was wearing a navy blue crop top and black trousers, her skin was literally glowing. She looked so good.

"What a suprise, we missed you, Midnights" teacher said as Midnights smirked.

"I missed you too Mrs. Sherman" she replied ironically.

"I don't want you to be late for my classes anymore, you can take a seat" the teacher said sternly, Midnights just muttered something under her breath and headed to the back of the class.

1989 hoped Midnights wouldn't sit next to her. Her heart rate sped up and her breathing became heavier as the girl take a sit.

"Hello, Nine" 1989 thought she misheard something, or did Midnights just give her a nickname? They never spoke to each other.

"Hi" she replied quietly turning her head in the opposite direction.
1989 didn't want Midnights to think she was mean but at the same time she didn't want her to get interested in her in any way. Midnights was known from getting into trouble and 1989  didn't want to take any risks.

The teacher continued lesson, 1989 was trying to focus and take notes and the girl sitting next to her seemed totally uninterested and was doing something on her phone.

When the lesson finally ended 1989 wanted to leave the classroom as soon as possible. She was curious where Red was and why she didn't come to class. At that exact same moment she noticed Red and Speak Now talking to each other.

"Where have you been?!" 1989 said louder than she intended.

"Hi! I dropped French" Red said unbothered. "My ex is taking French this semester so I went to the principal's in the morning and chose chemistry instead" she said and Speak Now rolled her eyes.

"Oh my god! You could have told me"

"Why are you so dramatic?" Speak Now interfered.

"I sent you a message but the lesson has already started, sorry" Red said with a twisted face.

"It's fine, guess who sat with me" 1989 said and both girls gave her confused looks.

"Midnights and she called me by nickname"

"Wait! That Midnights?!" Speak Now asked really loud that the people next to the girls looked at her. Seeing this, Red laughed and Speak Now hit her on the arm.

"Shush! Yes, omg" she replied angrily.

"Well, maybe she's nice" Red said wondering.

"I hope so"
