5. Bandits

                                    

                                          
(Few days later)
While we're on the way to Xyrus, I decided to create my pseudo mana core. Just to be safe. It was, of course, Black for the time being. Fortunately, I was in a lake, taking bath, so our wagon wasn't destroyed. Can't say the same for spare clothes. Hehehe...
I got tips and little bit of basic muscle training by practically everyone. It was good but tiring for a five year old body.
Now, we're passing through a valley. That's when all of heard...
"Surround them boys, Kill the men. leave women and children! Can't sell damaged goods!" 
Yeah, it was the bandits. I would say this the point of the original story where things really take a direction. Let's see where do things go now...
"Everyone Take defensive formation!" My father shouted at everyone in the twin horns got ready with their weapons.
"O' wind gather around and protect us" Angela used a spell to make some sort of wind barrier. 
Everyone was busy fighting and Mother hugged both Arthur and me to make sure we wouldn't see such savagery. I did heard the guy fighting Jasmine say something along the lines of training her and her begging him to stay with her, which was not possible at all. And if it was I would make sure it wouldn't be. 
A bandit tried to attack mother and us but I secretly attack with a invisible mana arrow, thanks to my mana core network I made while I was one. I attacked at his wrist to try to disarm him, which luckily worked. It couldn't understand what happened as my father crashed into him and he was thrown away. 
Reynolds, Father, crashed into the wagon with injury to his shoulder. Mom tried to heal him but he stopped her and looked at both Arthur and me.
"Listen my boys, once your mother activates her healing spell the bandits are gonna come after her. Run with her and protect her."
"But dad let me and stay fight with you! You've seen with fight! I can fight!" Arthur was trying to convince father as tears rolled down his cheeks. I was just staring at mother's stomach knowing why father told us to leave with her.
"Arthur Leywin! I know you can fight that is why I want you to leave with your mother and protect her and the baby inside her!" Father put a hand on his shoulder and tried to convince him.
Arthur was shocked to hear that our mother was pregnant. Personally the only question that came to my mind was when the hell these two did bedroom wrestling? I didn't even heard them and we've been at this trip for almost three weeks.
"Okay..." Arthur stood up and wiped his tears. Just after mother healed father, Arthur took her hand and I stood up. 
"Shit! They've got a healer! Kill her!" The leader shouted at his teammates.
I stood up and faced him with my family behind me.
"Jake you should leave. I know you've awakened but your not strong enough to fight him" father tried to convince me but I looked at him and and then to mother and Arthur. 
"Well it's the job of the elder brother protect the younger siblings. Arthur go and take mother with you."
"Come with us" mother yelled at me.
I added "besides these uncivilized caveman can't really do anything to me." I pointed to the leader of the bandits clearly angering him.
"What can a kid even do?" The leader laughed. I left his weapon on the ground.
I got into stance for the fight. 
"Arthur run!" I shouted so he ran away with mother as I glared at the caveman of a bandit leader.
"Ready? Go!" I launched myself at the leader with mana flowing out of my legs. He punched at me but grabbed his hand to use it to jump over him. I landed behind him as I punch him with a mana reinforced fist on his side.
"Grhhh" he grunted in pain. I jumped backwards to avoid incoming attacks as I readied my fist to fist meet his hand. Then I used my technique I was training for past few days.
   
                     DIVERGENT FIST!
Mana rippled through his skin as my fist connected with his hand. He was sent backwards because of the pain. 
"You brat! I'll kill you!" I tried side stepping but he caught me because of my technique I used a lot of mana. He grabbed my neck as I was trying to breathe. My hands were shaking then suddenly his grip loosed on me as I took a heavy breath. I looked around to see my father punched him in the face. 
"Thanks dad" I said as I stood up.
"No, thank you Jake. Because you fought, Arthur and your mom were able to get run away" 
"Anything for family"
"Right, anything for family"
I decided to see if I could use earth magic or not which is stupid to experiment in a life or death situation.
I tried to conjure an earth spike on the leader's foot but failed so I just readied another divergent fist. I launched myself at the leader as dad tried to jab him. I punched him in the knees as he feel on the ground. I took a step back and dad tried keeping him on the ground. 
"Dad! Leave him on my mark!" 
"Okay!"
I ran over to them and jumped into air as I attacked the leader with a final kick.
"Rider Kick!"

The leader was unconscious and so were the other members of the bandits. The danger was over.
Then we heard a scream.
"Arthurrrrr!" It was my mom's scream. 
We ran to check on her to see what happened. There, we saw her, sitting beside a cliff. Crying and screaming Arthur's name. He had fallen.
So should I say his new life starts now which only I knew about because of the novel. 
I had a few weeks before Sylvia dies and Arthur travles goes to elenoir. I had to learn the black hole teleportation by then. 
So I paid the system to get the black hole teleportation skill along with earth magic and gravity magic. 
For what I was about to do would seriously change the story.
