Vera’s POV.

The moment David swing the car into the garage of the mansion, I bustle out of my seatbelt and unlock the door.

Without a backward glance, I stumble off. I didn’t even talk to him all the while he was trying to cook up a conversation between us because
all I kept thinking was what Claire did to him at the gym.

And…his blatant rejection.
Trust me, I don’t plan on making it easy on him tonight. The man must realize I’m a full fledge lady with tits and round, bumpy ass.

I sashay my hips around, walking off and into the house.

“Kid…” I hear him calling me but I pretend to not have heard. My only plan is to make him regret rejecting me.

And as for Claire…I don’t have a word for her yet but trust me that woman is my greatest enemy for wanting and seducing what I want too.

I bound into my room and shut the door, locking myself in. I pace around, thinking frantically on the best way to go about this.

Good that I got the invitation card. I want to be there and watch…to know the shits Claire does to David whenever they go out.
Damn, I cuss, biting my lips. The thought of both of them together is driving me crazy.

Later, I step into my closet and there I find the very sexy dress for this house party. It’s not
overly elegant or simple…it’s just in between, enough to show off my curves and blessed skin.

I drop them on the bed, hurry to my phone and call Sage.

“What do you say to…a house party, at a friend’s place?” I rush the words literally and that has Sage dropping her voice as she speaks, concern clouding her tone.

“Is everything okay?” She asks.

I shut my eyes, fingering the skin between my brows in complete frustration.

“Can’t you just say…yes or no without asking questions?” I fire back.

Sage clears her throat. I know my Bff and I know she’ll always avail herself for me.
Sage cut the stretching silence with her words.

“Fine. I’m in.” She resign and I giggle.

“Trust me baby, you’re the best.” I tell her, clapping both hands in glee.

After washing up, I find my way to the kitchen. Irene hascome to work and is cleaning the house.

I greet her and make my way outside, to the pool area. But I stop short on seeing David and Andrei muttering some things.

It’s as if they’re arguing about something. When they notice my presence, David break away from
Andrei and he stalk away.

I pause, crossing my hands over my shoulder as my daddy makes his way to me.

“Kid…uh…about what happened back there.” He takes a break and scratch the back of his hair.
Just the reminder of that is grating my nerves. I scowl, speaking before he does.

“You don’t need to remind. You made your rejection obvious.” I scoff at the look of distress
David gives me.

It’s clearly obvious he'll choose Claire or
whatever her name is over me always…I’m fine with it…

C'mon, stop lying through your teeth…my mind reminds me.

Okay, fine. I’m not fine with it. In fact this gives me thereason to prove him wrong. He can’t keep
avoiding this attraction before us forever, can he?

“You don’t get it, kid. I doubt you ever will…”

“And that’s because you still assume I’m too young…literally a kid to understand what it means.” I snap.

His expression aiming to undo me. To gaslight me and make me feel like I’m the cause of
this whole thing. I don’t want to see
that look, so I just walk away from him.

All through the day, I keep avoiding him. Until it’s time for the house party.

     ***David***

Vera kept avoiding me after our encounter at the pool side. I don’t know why I found it difficult to speak.

That was what Andrei and I were arguing. He told me to at least let her know the consequences of what she wants. Or what this taboo thing will bring upon us but I disagreed.

I can’t risk her happiness and free mind. I know Vera, despite acting all strong and capable she’s still vulnerable and telling her there’s a threat against her life will douse that bubbly girl I know.
It happened to her mother, Helen. When Helen married her husband, out of betrothal, she lost her happiness.

It got worse when she found out the man married her for power not even for love. Helen became a shadow of her old self. The only time
you’ll see her smiling is when she sneak into my house.

I make her happy in every way I can. I know how sad she was when she found out she’s pregnant not for me but for her husband, the mafia guy. Yes, because we did a DNA test.

Hell, Helen nearly lost her mind. Even when Vera was born the men kept chasing her around…wanting her and her child.

Helen didn’t even know happiness because she died a painful death. So, I don’t fucking want that for my sweet angel. Yet, she keeps pestering me.

Vera thinks I really mean she isn’t woman enough for me. Damn that. She’s enough and more.

The perfect girl for a horny man like me.
I hate that I can’t break this to her and that I’m
hurting her in the process but then…it’s well.

Claire calls to remind me about the house party, I
unthinkingly accepted to attend.
I messed up at the gym, really.
When Claire was asking me to accompany her there as her date, my mind was all focused on Vera’s ass and the drip of sweat on her skin as she dries up.

It was because of my foster daughter that I unknowingly accepted Claire’s request.

Now, I have to live up to my promise which I really hate.
I’m a man of my own words so since I’ve agreed to this…I’ve to meet up.

Standing before the mirror, I handle the buttons of my brown T-shirt carefully, popping them close and writhing my head as I get to the last
button.

I flit my body with my woodsy cologne, slide my hair to the side.
Looking satisfied, I then walk away.

I march into the black night with the half-moon taking up a spot in the sky, sending a shallow glow down on us.

I get the car keys myself and press the fob, the Silver Range Rover peeps as the brake lights flashes.
I settle behind the wheel and step on the gas.

Smoothly, I put the car on reverse and drive away to the place Claire’s waiting for me.

She hop into the car with smiles, touching my lap.

I cringe but still remind myself that I need something from this woman’s father.
I play cool, replying the ones I can to her chatter.

In no time, we arrive at the….yellow two story building.
Cars of various brands park by the road side and inside the driveway. People heap up in various corners, sipping wine and chattering.

Everywhere turns calm as Claire and I step into the crowded room.

“My goodness, Claire.” A woman’s voice pierces the air to reach us.
Claire lightly twirls with smiles touching her lips. Her wavy blond hair bounces at the moves.

“Anita…” She booms, meeting Anita halfway and they both hug lightly, pecking their chicks.

“My God, this dress looks amazing.” Anita comments, trailing her gaze over Claire’s body.

Oh, it’s only then that I drag my eyes down her body. The black sequin dress has a long slit,
popping out Claire’s creamy thigh.
She’s on a fuck-me heels that compliments her outfit.

“It’s my newest design.” Claire boasts.

By now other women gather around Claire, taking in her dress with awe.

I sigh, rolling my eyes. I look around and find the waitress walking by with a tray of nothing but expensive drinks. I beckon on him and he comes over, handing me a glass ofwhiskey.

I mindlessly gulp the drink while throwing glances over at Claire. I can still hear their voices from here.

“Oh, I’d like to see some of your other designs.” One of the women sings out.

“Surely, I’ll have my assistant send you our magazine with or latest designs on it…” She fans her hand over her face, as if to show off her dress more.

“I heard you just returned from France. How was the show?” Anita asks, now sipping lightly from her glass.
