focus, seungkwan.
seungkwan nodded along as he listened to vernon go on about the two-month vacation he took to visit his family back in the states. the boy with the light tan was standing behind the bar, restocking the sugar and salt trays as he recounted the multiple days he spent at the beach with his family and friends.
seungkwan nodded along thoughtfully, but all he could think about was the multiple close-open shifts he did in the time that his friend was gone. but seungkwan wasn't a begrudging person. he could be happy for his friends and still wish it had been him in vernon's place, all the while he would keep a smile on his face.
seungkwan felt his phone beep again in his pocket, and he let out a light groan. vernon's voice faltered, and he looked back at his friend with a curious tilt of his head. seungkwan saw the questioning look in vernon's eyes, and he waved the boy off with a roll of his eyes.
just then, mingyu walked up to the bar where the two younger boys stood. well, he was hunched over as he pushed a large keg behind the bar, grunting as the dolly holding the keg caught onto the mat behind the bar, almost resulting in the keg falling over.
mingyu looked up with an exasperated look on his face, directing his next statement at vernon as he said, "where do you want this, vernon-ah?"
while vernon helped mingyu put the keg in its proper place, seungkwan thought that would be a good time to check his phone. he unlocked his phone while he hid it under the counter, his eyes quickly scanning over the latest message his older sister sent him. he winced at the contents of the text, and with a loud groan, he locked his phone and lightly dropped his head onto the bar counter.
seungkwan could feel the watchful eyes of vernon and mingyu from the other side of the counter, but he ignored them as he heaved out a tired sigh. he tried his hardest to conceal the frown that was itching to form on his face.
seungkwan had been avoiding checking his phone all day. maybe he should have just stuck with it, at least until he went back home. he cursed internally as he slowly lifted his head up, locking eyes with vernon as he mumbled, "nonie, can you give me the chef's special?"
mingyu looked around in confusion, wondering if this were just an odd way of seungkwan asking for something to eat. he almost considered returning to the kitchen to follow through with the younger boy's request, only stopping when he saw vernon shrug and grab a short bottle of an aged tequila. he watched as vernon poured a shot and slid it over the counter towards seungkwan, the boy grabbing the small glass and tossing it back with a quiet grunt.
seungkwan looked up as he heard mingyu let out a startled laugh. his eyes rolled up to the ceiling, letting out a loud sigh as he heard the older boy say, "damn, kwan. drinking on the job?"
seungkwan didn't let mingyu finish, slamming a hand down onto the counter swiftly as he leaned forward and spat out, "you know what? kiss my ass, mingyu. don't you have some other people to yell at?"
mingyu blinked in surprise, glancing quickly at vernon, the younger boy looking just as startled as he felt. mingyu just let out a nervous chuckle, holding up his hands in surrender as he backed away and said, "okay, damn."
seungkwan's eyes trailed after mingyu as he watched him walk back to the kitchen. he rolled his eyes once again as he focused his attention on vernon once again. his shoulders slumped down as he saw the disapproving look on his friend's face.
