SOMETHING REALLY STRANGE happened today. I was with Naseen, of course, and as soon as she requested that I make a portrait of her mom, I was startled.
I didn't see it coming at all.
Honestly, when I got her message, I had imagined countless possibilities for why she might want to meet me. But this? Nope, I didn't even see it crawling.
I thought she might need help with the Latika Goenka murder case or would ask me about what I saw that night—about her mom falling from my dad's hotel building and all those horrifying details. Adding to that, how on earth am I supposed to hide it from her that her mom had an affair, and what did I see in that bathroom?
It was her mom's private moment with the state chief minister.
Yeah, that last part definitely had to stay secret.
She's only 19, and talking about her mom's private life is definitely crossing a line.
And I really don't get how guys like Chetanya can't see how young she is. Why wouldn't he date someone similar to his own age?
Well, it was only Tapish that I tended to notice this age gap dating around me. And I never noticed before. I tend to see lots of people around me who are actually older men who prefer much younger women.
I got that, but, like, really young?
Gosh, I have two little sisters, and I don't know anything about them. Suddenly, I feel so protective. I'll never let this happen to them.
They can't be me.
No wonder why my dad always kept an eye on me at various parties, always wanting to know where I was standing. Even though he didn't like my friend that much, he was always relieved knowing I wasn't alone—where he could finally take a deep breath.
I'm not fond of older men; the past events were merely errors that I learnt from and never committed again.
Anyway, the weirdest part was Naseen surprising me with those piercing eyes and asking if she could have dinner with me.
