Chapter 6: The Cave

                                    

                                          

                                 -Ryder POV-
"Ryder look!" Rocky says pointing in front of us, an island. We knew we had to stop somewhere so we ended up making our way to the island. 
Something about this place was very off, I didn't think too much about it yet. We pulled Rocky's boat onto the shore and assessed the damage. I can't lie. It was pretty bad, between the guns shooting at it and Rocky having to over work the engine. It's gonna take time to fix it. But right now all we can do is just make it work enough to get home. And that's what Rocky and rubble began to do, they took parts from the back of the boat and start the repairs. While that was going on I decided to explore a little bit of the coast alone for now. I looked around for anything that looked suspicious or out of place. Because as far as we know right now. This island is dangerous, it isn't known or marked on any map. 
"Ryder were done!" Rubble called out to me. I made my way back and looked at what they've done. "It looks great guys! Okay not that it's ready for departure we can explore further into the island" I said pointing to the forest in front of me. "Uhhh dudeeee" Zuma said, "Is it smart to do that? I mean we just got shot at" he did have a point, but I was determined to make sure adventure bay was safe. It's my job to keep it safe and I'll be damned if I fail. "Cmon guys, we got this" I said confidently marching towards the forest. The pups followed closely, I kept my eyes pealed for any traps or danger. 
The further we went into the forest the more I felt that we were being watched, it was definitely an uneasy feeling for sure. But I knew this was the only way to keep my family safe.
We walked and walked until eventually we saw a building. I had a feeling this building had something to do with the waves. So we snuck in through a back door. The whole building was empty until we found a door that lead deeper into the ground. We followed it and what we saw shocked us.
It was a giant machine that looks like it pounds the earth to make the waves. "This must be the machine" Zuma said looking at it. "We have to disable it or break it" I said thinking of how to do so. Well we didn't get to think very long before the machine slammed into the ground creating the most ear piercing noise I have ever heard. Instantly we all covered our ears and yelled. Until finally the noise stopped. By that point our ears were all ringing. I didn't know what to think. Everything was a blur. All I knew it that we got to get out the house, and that's exactly what I told the pups we went to get out the house when the machine started moving again and slammed into the ground. 
All I could think is that this is how I die.
                              -Chase POV-
We were trapped with this madman. I'm not sure who he was but we needed to get out of here now. "Skye you need to untie Everest now." I ordered as I jumped at Jester. He tried to hit me and missed so I bit his leg, "AHHH" He yelled. He tried to hit me with his Caine but marshal hit the handle and was holding it. "I'm not untying her. Hey marshal to do it" Skye said running at the mad man. "No skye! You have to do it! We can hold him off much longer" I yelled "NO I CAN FIGHT" She yelled as she jumped and bit his neck. "AHHH" he yelled and with one swift move he smacked her down. "MARSHAL UNTIE EVEREST NOW" I yelled now full of rage. He did exactly that as I bit down on his crotch and ran into his leg, causing him to fall and grab his crotch. "RUN" I yelled as Everest, marshal and Skye zoomed past me. I was not far behind them when we got to my cruiser I barked for my tennis ball launcher and shot a ball at his head. He yelled and grabbed his head. I started to drive away from him as fast as I could using every bit of power in the engine to go fast. 
When we were far enough away I slowed down and parked for a second. "Skye. We need to talk." I said looking at her. She looked at me with a face of regret. Something I've never seen from her, "Skye you had a direct order to free Everest. Yet you disobeyed what I had to say and almost made us lose the mission." I said with a stern voice, "Skye had you been hit fatally I don't know if I would be able to live with that. You are my number one. You are who I care about above all the other pups. Had something happened to you back there. I wouldn't be able to live with myself. I think I would be hurt beyond belief" I finished. "I need a second to think" I said walking into the woods near a mountain. 
"Chase!" I heard them yell, "please come back!". I couldn't just yet. I had to think and process what just happened back there. 
I continued to walk until soon it started to rain. Of course, I thought. How poetic that it starts to rain at a time like this. I found myself at the entrance of a cave. I decided to sit right outside of it. All I could think about is how something awful could have happened to Skye had I not been filled with rage. Rage, now that's something I've never felt before. Yet the word rage seemed to fit it best. I think what shocked me the most is Skye not wanting to help Everest. Yes I understand she was hurt and could be still hurting, but in times like that we can't let our feelings get the better of us. 
"Chase!" I heard. It was Everest, "I'm here" I called out. Soon I heard the ruffling of leaves and a husky come out from the woods. She walks up to me and sits down beside me. "Chase I'm so so sorry for what happened at the look out. I didn't mean for us to get here" she explained with sorrow in her tone. "thank you Everest, that means a lot to me. But you didn't bring us here. It wasn't your fault that man took you. But let's not talk about that okay? Because you're with us now. You're safe." I told her. "Can you promise that?" She asked, now normally I'd say yes but after what I saw jester do. I couldn't make any promises. 
"Look Everest. I can't promise you'll be safe from him, what I saw was pure evil and craziness. With that kind of mentality who knows what he's planning. And it seems very clear that his intentions are to get rid of the paw patrol. Or why else would he immediately try to attack us and use you as leverage to get us here. I can't promise your safety. That would be a lie, but I can promise one thing. I can promise that no matter what happens, I will protect you. I will protect marshal, and I will definitely protect Skye. All of you and the paw patrol have my undying promise that I will put down my life for you, because in the eyes of me. Your life's are worth more than mine" I finished
I looked at Everest and it was clear that she was tearing up. She immediately hugged me, but rather than a flirty hug this hug was more real. Like a sister to a brother kind of hug. 
"Of course" I hear from the woods. Both marshal and Skye appear from deep in. "Why am I not surprised Everest, why do you insist on being so persistent with getting with Chase? I thought since the tower you learned that he doesn't want you. It's clear that you're a slow learner" Skye said getting in Everest's face. "Skye, please calm down" Marshal said getting in between her and Everest. "No marshal, I can handle this myself." Everest said stepping past marshal. "Why are you being so mean to me? I mean even when that guy had me you chose not to help me. Like you had some kid of u dying grudge against me" Skye looked at her with tears. "BECAUSE YOU KNEW I LOVE CHASE, YOU HELPED ME WITH ALL MY DELUSIONS AND OVERTHINKING. YKU WERE THE ONE I TRUSTED ABOVE ALL EITH THAT SECRET. I EXPECTED MY OWN BEST FRIEND.. MY SISTER!! TO UNDERSTAND THAT IVE WANTED CHASE FOR AS LONG AS IVE MET HIM!!" She yelled. 
I didn't know what to think. The love of my life just openly admitted to loving me back! I can't believe it! She actually loves me! She actually really loves m-, "OH YEA? WELL MAYBE I DID IT BECAUSE YOU DIDNT HAVE THE BALLS TO TELL HIM HOW YOU FELT. I WOULDVE LET YOU HAVE HIM IF YOU WERNT SUCH A PANSIE" Everest yelled back. 
Skye growled and jumped at Everest pushing against the mountain. "YOU TAKE THAT BACK" she barked. Everest attacked her and now both of them were circling each other, waiting for someone to make a move. "GUYS ENOUGH" I tried to command. But they didn't listen they just continued to fight until I heard a sounds. Like multiple rocks slurring down a mountain. And sure enough, there were rocks tumbling down the mountain. "MARSHAL LOOK OUT" I said pushing him out the way. Which just happened to be in the cave,
And when I looked back I saw the rocks have covered the cave entrance.
"CHASE" Skye yelled "MARSHAL" Everest screamed. "ARE YOU OKAY??" They shouted towards me and marshal. "Yea *Cough* *Cough* we're okay." Marshal said to the girls on the other side of the rock wall. "Skye and Everest" I said "I need you two to listen carefully right now. I need you to put your feelings aside and help me and marshal get out of this mess. I need you to carefully drive my cruiser over here and hook the toe cable to one of these bottom rocks. Once pulled the rest should fall with it" I explained. "But there's one thing that is crucial for you guys to do" I told them
"Skye and Everest. You must work together"
