Alana:
A loud and annoying noise reached my ear and pulled me out of my sleep. I rubbed my eyes sleepily and looked at the clock next to my bed. I quickly jumped out of bed and made my way to the kitchen. Today was my first day at university in Barcelona, but I'd already been living here for a month. Luckily, because I was able to prepare well for my upcoming studies. The coffee machine was switched on and I got my muesli ready and also packed a small loaf of bread for when I got hungry. I ate the muesli at my newly purchased table and watched YouTube to distract myself. It's really exciting for me because I'm originally from a small town near Seville. I have to admit, I've never been away from my parents and home town for more than 2 weeks, so this is very special. My older brother, Adrian, still lives and works with my parents and my little sister, Lucia, goes to the same school as I did when I lived with my parents. I pushed myself into the bathroom, put on my headphones and turned on loud music and sang along to it at the top of my voice. After I got ready, I opened the door and my roommate, Carla, came straight towards me.
"Dude, what have you been doing in there for so long? I have to go too," Carla grumbled at me.
"Oops, sorry," I apologized, feeling slightly guilty. I'd forgotten that Carla had to leave straight away too.
"It's okay," Carla sighed slightly and then thankfully looked at me with a smile.
I was glad because I didn't want to offend my flatmate in the first few weeks and Carla is a really lovely person who has already become a very good friend after a week and I hope it stays that way because sometimes it's very difficult to live with a friend, but apart from the incident just now, we've never argued or had a disagreement. I quickly ran into my room and looked in my closet to see what I was going to wear. I had several outfit options. I picked the white dress with blue flowers. It was really pretty. I took the rucksack I had packed the night before and set off for university. To be honest, I was a bit scared because I'd already been in Barcelona for a month and I didn't have any other friends apart from Carla.
I closed the front door behind me and let the nice warm fall air blow in my face. The street in front of the apartment was already full of people who, like me, were also on their way to university. Other people were on their way to work. The train was full of people when I got on and it also smelled really bad of sweat.
