i don't care.

TOM'S POV

i stroke her hair, it's silky and smooth. i run my hands through it as i pace my breathing to the same speed as hers.
never did i know that this would happen.

i mean, i used to hate this girl.
as much as she hated me, i hated her as well.
i know that for a fact.

but now, here she is. sleeping on my chest peacefully.
and here i am, stroking my fingers through her soft hair, admiring how her imperfections are just perfect.

most men go for girls with perfect skin, a perfect body and perfect anything.
but delilah, she's realistic.
she has pimples and a few blemishes on her face, she doesn't have doll-like soft skin - but i love it.
she doesn't have society's depiction of a 'perfect body.' when she curves her body, she has stomach rolls - she isn't perfectly skinny, but again - she's realistic.
her hair gets messy, it doesn't look synthetic. it looks real.
she is real.
the most realest girl i've ever met, yet i barely know a thing about her.

i need to get myself out of my head and my mind out of the gutter, i need to focus on catching who bit her.
i mean, who would?
as far as i know, there's only 6 vampires in town. well, 7 - now including delilah.

bill,

gustav,

me,

georg,

and eliana.

gustav tried to put eliana on his strict little diet of no human blood and only animal blood, but i find that completely unrealistic. i mean, we're vampires for damn sakes. we kind of have to feed on humans?
i'm surprised gustav hasn't turned into ashes yet.
eliana was actually going to follow in on it, the little diet. the reason she's been gone was because i sent her out on a hunt in another town for humans, she can't be caught here.

she's already been erased from people's minds for almost being caught, we can't have that again.

hannah grey, her old name.
hannah didn't suit her, neither did her personality.
if only delilah found out her old best friend was right in front of her.
but then again, we wiped everyone's memory. including delilah.

hannah grey doesn't exist anymore.

my eyes feel like they're becoming more heavy, and i didn't even notice until now that my breathing is now actually matching delilah's. slow and steady.
i close my eyes, breathing in delilah's scent. she smells so good, so special. like, genuinely. vanilla, cherry, whatever - you name it, anything that smells good. she smells spectacular.

'goodnight, delilah...' i whisper into her ear, then i kiss her head - wrapping my arms around her.

DELILAH'S POV

6:45 AM

'gosh...'
i wake up, rubbing my forehead. there's music playing on the tv, tom must've forgotten to turn the tv off. i grab the remote, switching the music off. i lift my head off of tom's chest.

wait.
my head..
tom's chest?

right, i don't even have the energy to be shocked at this point.
so i'm not going to be.
i don't blame myself, actually.
his chest is pretty comfy, and i swear he was circling his fingers around my scalp. that made me even more tired, if only he knew i wasn't asleep anymore.

'wake up.' i say blatantly and straight up. i then start to feel his face, caressing his cheek softly. right after, i stand up and start walking over to the kitchen. i can hear him start to groan and yawn, making me smile a bit. his yawns and groans are questionable.

i fill up the kettle with water, then turn the kettle on. i grab a mug, and grab some coffee powder from the upper kitchen counter.

'making coffee?' i hear from behind me, i turn around - he's awake.
i smile, 'yeah, want some?'
'sure, i don't drink it often.'
he walks over to the bench and leans over. he's awfully energetic for a guy that has just woken up from his sleep.
'your yawns and groans are weird.' i sneer, because it's the truth. they are.
'oh, really?' he raises his eyebrow, 'coming from the girl who fell asleep on my chest and didn't even question it.'
'oh, shut up.'
i lean over the counter and push him by the shoulder. he pushes me back, making me laugh.
'what's for breakfast?' he licks his lips, then claps his hands together, rubbing them.
'hmm...' i squint, trying to think of some food to prepare. i turn around and look into the cupboard, there's not much there.
'maybe make some diy breakfast.' i say, still scanning around for some food to make, 'or we could go to that cafe-' i stop myself. right, i forgot. the boys gobbled the shit out of those cafe workers, so now that cafe doesn't exist anymore.
'connected the dots already, huh? you're pretty smart for a human girl.' he says from behind me, 'well, for a newborn vampire now.'
