Once I got the house cleaned up, I went to the grocery, because you have to keep up the assumption you are normal. None of the food you buy goes bad. You used to have people over and they would eat your food. Now, you've found no real purpose in keeping mortal friends. You persona would die in a few years and you would have to move to another location. You went shopping then returned home. I noticed a few papers were folded into one of the bags.
One of them was advertising positions needed at the hospital and they needed blood donors. I internally shuttered. Even though I've been around longer than most vampires, I have never had the stomach for medicine. From what little I remember of my time as a human, I didn't enjoy medicine then either.
The other paper was from the college nearby who needed a few positions filled. One of which was a Religious Studies teacher. I smiled and called the phone number.
"Good morning. How can I help you?" A cheerful woman on he other end of the line answered.
"Hi. I received a paper saying the college needed a new Religious Studies teacher. I would like to apply," she asked several requirement questions, including which degrees I would need and that I have, all I wrote down to begin a resume and pulling degrees.
"Can you speak any other languages other than English?" I paused, curious of how much I could get away with.
"I can speak and read several. I moved around a lot as a missionary's kid. Anytime my father was sent overseas, I would study in those countries."
"What languages?"
"Latin, Greek, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, both Mexican and Spain, French, German, Italian, just to name a few," there was a silence on the other side of the phone.
"That is quite impressive. Do you know much on different religions?"
"During those years, I also had to study their religions. I am quite knowledgeable about majority of them," she went over a few more questions then paused again.
"When would you be able to start at the earliest?"
"As soon as possible. "
"I will provide this information to our Administrative Director and we will be getting back with you, " I hung up and began working on the resume and printing the degrees.

A few days later, I received a phone call from the secretary from the college.
"Ms. Y/N?"
"Yes, this is she" I pretended to yawn.
"I'm sorry for the early call. I wanted to see if you could come in today for an interview?"
"What time?"
"1:30?"
"I'll be there. Thank you so much," I hung up and got my nicest outfit ready. I walked to the school and arrived about 20 minutes early. "Hello. I need to see (secretary)."
"Hello. You must be Y/N. She's getting the room set up," I nodded and sat in a chair.
"Ms. Y/N?" An older walked in and walked over to me. I stood and shook his hand.
"Yes, sir. It's a pleasure to meet you," he smiled slightly.
"It's good to meet you too. I am (AD) and I am the Administrative Director (which I'll abbreviate to (AD)) of (College.). (Secretary) sent me some quite interesting information from your application. This isn't our typical interviewing style but it comes in handy for someone applying for this role," he led me into a small office room with 8 people around an oval table. " Each of us are going to ask you a few random questions and I want you to answer them to the best of your abilities, "I nodded, noticing C/N from a few days ago. Most of the questions were in English. A few of the people asked in various languages, Latin, Spanish, Chinese and even an African dialect.
"Has everyone asked their questions?" A few people looked at C/N.
"I haven't yet. You speak the languages of all of these different people but can you speak so the younger generations can understand and take their new found knowledge into the real world? I want you to give us an important lesson and teach it to us," some of the people nodded. I hadn't planned anything yet.
"Mesopotamia, one of the first civilizations.." I continued, even pulling from some primary source material, and even some of my own personal history. I stopped speaking and everyone looked to the (AD) except for C/N, who was still watching me curiously.
"We will call you in the next few days about our decision," I nodded and left. I went up into the attic once I got home and changed cloths. I took a juice box with me and looked through my collection.
I heard the doorbell ring throughout the house and I went downstairs. I opened the door and found C/N standing there with another basket.
"Come inside, C/N. It must be freezing out there," he nodded and set the basket on the counter.
"Mom made this basket to help with your grief," I grabbed a cookie.
"Well her baking really does help. Mom passed yesterday."
"I'm sorry to hear that. I'm not supposed to say anything about the interview but it sounds like you got the job. Everyone was impressed by your answers and the amount of knowledge you know. "
"How long has the school been without this position?"
" Longer than I've been a student there. I'm a junior and there are so many students who need Christian Studies, they can only get seniors in those classes and can barely managed that. Some of the students have to stay longer until they get all of the requirements."
"I hate that and will be glad to help out as much as I can."
"The only problem is the only available times are night classes," I nodded.
"I won't have an issue with it," I preferred it. He looked around.
"Is that a suit of armor from the 1600s?"
"Yeah, around 1640s," he asked more questions.
"Where did you get all of this stuff?"
"The magic attic," he raised an eyebrow. "No, go see for yourself," I led him to the stairs and we went into the attic. Floor to ceiling in most places was artifacts from multiple eras. I had once tried to organize the stacks but towers of metal armor, weapons, and shields rained down, almost like the countless battles I had been in over the years.
"Fine, a magic attic."
"My family has collected these artifacts for centuries. I can trace my history back to people living in multiple European countries before Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean blue," I pushed back the memories as I looked around my history. "When the 13 colonies were first allowed over the Appalachian Mountains, my family had built this house and renovated it over the years. Then they built the town," I wasn't lying. I had spend day and night building the town. When settlers would come seeking the western lands, I would give them a night in the inn and provide food. They would give me trade items and I continued my business since no one would recognize me. This worked for two and a half of my journals. It had been the longest I had stayed in one place.
"There were rumors that it was ran only by a woman. No one ever saw the rest of her family."
"They had been exposed to an unknown disease and killed them slowly for years. Bedridden," he nodded. I heard something in the silence and C/N took out his phone. Those are the real magic beings.
"I need to get home. I'll see you around," I sat on the floor and allowed my memories to envelope me.
