Tonight is a very special night with Preston and Nathaniel, involving the guest of honor being none other than Chase.
"Are you sure that he's coming soon?" Preston asks, tugging at his collar and straightening out his cuff links with subtle movements.
"Trust me, Preston Chase can't flake on a promise unless we'd have to play the hard way" Nathaniel replies, playing with a vial in his hand as the substance sloshes into itself over and over again.
A row of candles lit with matches by the maids, plates of food lying before us smelling delightful fighting off the urge to dig in the divine view before us.
"Let's just relax and wait for him to enter and then we'll begin" I pause. "Now, Nathaniel put away the vial for tonight we'll be needing it for another time"
Our heads swing in unison as Chase enters the room, watching him with greedy eyes and putting on charming smiles on display as he takes a seat at the end of the table.
"Well, tonight is on your honor, Chase in hopes of making amends and moving forward with an amount of trust amongst each other," I said, looking straight at Chase with the faint glows of candlelight reflecting in the pupils dilating slowly with subtle mischief behind it.
Watching as Chase narrows his eyes at me and everyone else in the room, then slowly lets his guard down relaxing into the atmosphere digging into his food and taking in every bite.
"You know having all of us together, brings up a lot of memories, especially with you Chase," Preston said, wiping the mouth off with a balloon and maintaining eye contact with him.
"What are these so-called memories, Preston?" Chase asks, tilting his head in interest and lazily settling in the chair.
"C'mon Chase don't tell me that you're pretending not to know" Preston pause. "Me and you were so close almost like brothers, except I'm way more handsome"
Taking another bite of food, while a staff member pours more champagne into the flute for Nathaniel and Preston, removes unnecessary utensils from the table exiting the room quietly. Finishing the last bit of food off my plate looking across from me, to see Chase finish up his meal exiting through the door and I follow.
"This dinner or whatever this is doesn't change things between us just letting you know," Chase said, placing on his long coat and giving constant eye contact.
"I'm well aware of that Chase let's take it one step at a time" I reply, leading him through the long hallway straight out the front door.
Stopping right at the front door letting in the chill breeze as Chase walks down the stairs waiting patiently in the driveway, closing the door as soon as he's out of view.
"I swear if you're still stressing out if this did work out it's fine, Chase just needs a few more nudges then he'll come around soon," Preston said, loosening his necktie and checking the time on his watch and running fingers through his hair.
"I swear what would I do without you, Preston" I sigh, giving his shoulder a short squeeze, and head up the spiral staircase.
"Probably not much" Preston calls, his voice echoing through the open walls.
Passing by the master suite, Clara's bedroom, and a couple of rooms finally landing in my bedroom locking the door pressing my face against the window pane watching as the SUV drives off.
"Don't worry this is just only the beginning" I pause. "I have so much in store for you, Chase the question is can you handle your world falling apart?"
