The Pain of Betrayal

Tamaki's eyes widened. "You don't mean...?"

"How do you think we found Aisho so quickly?" You played along with Kars' story.

Clutching his head, Tamaki slumped onto the couch. Could Yotsuyu really have sold them out?

It was all lies, of course, but he didn't need to know that. "It hurts, doesn't it." You placed a hand over your heart. "To be betrayed by someone you thought you could trust. Imagine how Hato feels right now."

"Right... Hato..." He looked up. This was no time for moping around. "She can't be targeting me from above, can she?" Now he was mumbling to himself. "Does she think she can win? She thinks she's fully out of my range, huh?" He rushed over to a basket of stuff next to the couch and dug out a lighter. "Here it is..."

As he started pulling on Norisuke, you banged a hand against window to reclaim his attention. "I wouldn't do that if I were you..."

He had the audacity to smile as he started slathering Norisuke with more fingerprints. The second he lit the lighter, a pair of birds flew in from the entryway. Dodging the man's attempts to swat them away, they aimed right for Tamaki's eyes, pecking and clawing them out. The man could only scream.

Soap bubbles wafted out from his pocket where the cut up liver was, revealing his location to Hato. He promptly received two heels to the head. The injured parts crumbled away.

The woman's onslaught ceased and everyone returned to normal. But Tamaki wasn't dead yet and was now trying to escape.

As he blindly stumbled out the front door, you stuck a foot out, making him trip and fall flat on his face. He started crawling instead, blood smearing on the pavement as he slowly inched himself forward. He was pleading and begging between each breath. You let him do so for a while, half curious to see how far he could actually make it.

Once he approached the gate of the Higashikata estate, you moved in front of him and stepped on his hand.

"Wait!" He cried. "There's still more you want to know, right?! You could team up with me, too!"

You noticed Gappy running out of the house after you. "Do you care if we kill him?"

Gappy slowed down, realizing the enemy was at your feet. He was holding the paper Yasuho had sent through the fax machine. "Nah. You can kill him."

All hope left Tamaki's face.

Kars crouched down and grabbed the man by the jaw. "An eye for an eye, as they say." He squeezed until it was reduced to rubble. As the rest of the enemy's body crumbled apart, the Ultimate Being dusted off his hands.

A few people who happened to be walking by glanced over but dismissed the remains as a broken statue.

"Well, I guess we're done here, now." You started to head back towards the mansion. You'd call someone to clean up the mess. "Oh, right." You turned around. "Could I have my phone back, Gappy?"

"Ah, yeah." He pulled it out of his pocket and returned it to you as he walked alongside you to the house. "I can't believe I really know who I am now. I'm... Josefumi Kujo and Yoshikage Kira."

You clapped him on the back. "Yup. Despite everything that happened, we did get to learn a lot about your past." You stopped again to examine his torso. You remembered his liver had been cut out before, but now he was entirely healed. "I guess even your wounds heal once you're no longer under the effect of Vitamin C..."

You could see the Higashikata family hugging in the entryway. Despite Norisuke's arms being cut off before, they were now intact. Not that you were complaining. It would save a trip to the hospital.
