I woke up with a groan. My body felt so numb and my right arm and legs were throbbing. I tried opening my eyes but instantly closed it when I saw the light.
"You're finally awake," a soft voice spoke.
Using the uninjured arm, I shielded my eyes from the light and opened it. Lucy looked at me sitting on a chair by my bed while Finn was laying on it.
"Lucy?" I muttered then Finn barked and I chuckled, "Hey Finn."
He wagged his tail and licked my face earning a laugh from me while Lucy chuckled softly.
"I'm so glad you're awake Spry," she said.
I smiled and sat up on my bed while Finn laid his head on my lap. "Me too. But how did I get to my room?" I looked around.
"Well after you passed out Finn and I carried you to your room. You gave us quite the scare."
"Oh, sorry about that," I adverted my eyes with an embarrassed smile.
She shook her head, "But what exactly happened down there."
That question really bothered me. My heart started to pound as I remembered what went through my mind.
I held onto my bed sheet and looked down agitated. "Monsters, everywhere. They were after me. I don't know where they came from and... I. Was. Trapped."
I tried holding back the tears as Lucy stared at me. She frowned a bit then hugged me, and I hugged her back.
"There, there," she muttered, patting me on the back.
"Thanks for that," I gave a small smile as we pulled away.
She smiled sweetly, "It was my pleasure."
"Anyway, what's the time," I stared out the window.
"Um, it's afternoon."
I hummed in response before something clicked. "Oh no!" I shrieked with wide eyes startling everyone. "I promised to help Bill feed the pigs. I'm so late!"
I tried getting up but immediately fell over. My legs were so sore.
"Spry, calm down," Lucy said helping me up and sitting me down on the bed. "I already told Bill that you won't be able to make it today. I explained everything that happened and he understood. He even brought you some chicken as a get well present," she gestured to the table beside me where a plate of chicken was kept.
"Oh," I recited. "Thanks Lucy. But I still have a ton of work to do."
"No, you're staying right here until you get better." She told sternly.
"But Lucy, I'm fine," I pouted like a little kid.
"No you're not, you just fell over."
"Yeah, so."
She sighed, "Spry, you shouldn't be overworking yourself, you're hurt and need to be resting. I understand you like to help but you also need to help yourself as well and rest. Please."
"Fine," I sighed.
"Good, now I'll be going down stairs to get you some beetroot soup. Please call me if you need anything okay?"
"Okay."
Lucy smiled at me then left. I looked down at my bitten arm.
"I better be careful not to do the same thing," I muttered.
Finn then barked at me and I smiled before stroking his head as he wagged his tail.
