Kim's POV

The race was creeping up fast. Even though North and Sonic's banter was a familiar distraction, I kept thinking about Kenta and the uneasy feelings he brought into my life. The race itself was a welcomed diversion, but my focus kept slipping back to Kenta.

Soon Babe and Charlie arrived to the track right on time to start our engines. I had gotten used to their little *focusing rituals* before each race. I don't need anyone to get me into focus.

As I raced, the familiar rush of the track was a welcome escape from my thoughts. Yet, even with the wind against my face and the roar of the engine, Kenta's warning about Tony's return lingered at the edge of my mind. I pushed myself to perform well.

When the race ended and I managed to secure a second place winning only losing by a second to Babe, I was relieved but still on edge. The group went to celebrate but my thoughts were already back on the new reality of sharing my home with Kenta.

It didn't take long to convince the team to let Kenta reside at my house instead of P'Alan's. I did make a convincing argument. Shortly after P'Alan agreed he messaged Kenta about the change. I don't really know how that conversation went but Kenta agreed.

Returning home, I found Kenta already at my door step. He was leaning against my door puffing on a cigarette.

I walk up to him, stopping only a few inches infront of him. He looked up and me from the ground and we embark in yet another small staring contest.

"Move." I finally say, "you're infront of the door."

I unlock the door and open it to let him through. I led him to the spare room, which was clean but simple. "This will be your space for now," I say.

Kenta nodded, taking in the room with a mix of relief and awkwardness. "It's fine."

I look at him and walk close forcing him to be pressed against the wall. "Just to let you know, I don't trust you. The only reason I am letting you stay here is so that I can keep an eye on you."

"Well," Kenta starts, "I don't care if you trust me, but for you own safety you better believe me." Kenta pushes himself of the wall walking forward pushing me against the opposite wall.

We stand there for a moment breathing in eachothers air. The tension between us is strong.

I retreated to my room quickly after that. Despite my exhaustion, sleep wouldn't come. I kept thinking about Kenta-his strong features and the way his breath felt against my neck at the garage. I hated this pull I felt towards him.

The rest of the night was filled with tossing and turning. I barely got any sleep, and as soon as the sun rose, I decided to head out to the gym to work off some of the emotions I was feeling.

The gym was only a short drive from my house, so it didn't take long before I was pulling into the parking lot. I made my way inside and quickly started working the punching bag. Suddenly, I felt a familiar prickling sensation across my neck and spun around.
