"It was their mother Esther who was sealed in that coffin." Elena revealed to Tori, Damon and Stefan, as they all gathered in her kitchen. Apparently, Rebekah had attacked Elena last night and Elijah saved her. He then told her how the coffin that Bonnie managed to open last night had contained his mother, who had come to become a family with them again."As in the original witch?" Stefan asked.
"What? How is she even alive?" Damon questioned incredulously. "I thought her hybrid freak show of a son ripped her heart out 1000 years ago."
"So did I." Tori muttered, remembering that was the exact reason Rebekah had been mad at her , for keeping the secret from her.
"I don't know." Elena sighed. "I'm guessing she has a couple connections in the witching community. Elijah said that she wants to live in peace with her family. Including Klaus."
"She was supposed to be the weapon to help us kill Klaus." Stefan said.
"Yeah, not anymore. At least, not according to Elijah."
"All your plans end up failing tremendously, are we even surprised at this rate?" Tori questioned, looking up at both her brothers from where she sat on the back edge of the couch.
"That coffin was the only thing stopping Klaus from tearing us to shreds. Well that and the weird thing Tori and him have, but clearly he doesn't listen to her anymore." Stefan pointed out, referring to how last night Klaus would've burned Stefan alive, right in front of Tori. But she was a little surprised Stefan had mentioned her thing with Klaus. Him and Damon had been choosing to ignore it, thinking if they didn't acknowledge it then it wasn't true.
"Anyone else feeling a little used right now?" Damon asked bitterly.
"Look, Elijah promised me that his family wouldn't hurt any of us." Elena assured when her doorbell rang. "I believe him." She said before going to answer the door.
"What is it?" Damon questioned, when she returned with just an envelope.
They all watched as she tore it open. "It's an invitation. Please join the Mikaelson family this evening at 7 o clock for dancing, cocktails, and celebrations." She read out loud and Tori sighed. Something nearly always went wrong at a party. Especially with the Mikaelsons.
"Who the hell are the Mikaelsons?" Stefan asked.
"The original family." Tori revealed. She forgot her brothers didn't know their actual surname.
"It's not bad enough they're moving into town and now they want a house warming gift?" Damon asked, a little annoyed.
"Wait there's a note on the back. Elena, I think it's time we finally meet. Esther." The doppelgänger revealed.
Tori had left to go to the Grill, getting a message from Scott. She had been hanging out with him more recently and she enjoyed her time with him. A break from all the vampire and original business was just what she needed, and with Scott, it was an easy escape. She could laugh and smile freely, she didn't need to pretend to be someone she wasn't. And he did make her laugh a lot. She just needed to head home first, before meeting him as she needed to feed. She kept the blood bags in a freezer in her basement, for when she wasn't in the mood to feed from a human. She walked into her room, a blood bag in her mouth as she drank, frowning in confusion at the box left her on her bed.
On the top there was an envelope, similar to the one she had seen Elena open, and Tori sighed as she realised who this had come from. Ripping it open, she stared at the invitation, scoffing at the note on the back. 'Save me a dance, fondly, Klaus'. She couldn't believe where he got the audacity. Just yesterday he almost killed Stefan, and now he was inviting her to the ball like they were friends. Throwing the card on her bed, she opened up the box, revealing the gorgeous deep red dress, one she had worn before in New Orleans. It was the one Marcellus had gifted her for her birthday, the night she had told Klaus she loved him when he gave her that bracelet. "Asshole." She muttered to herself. This dress had meaning and he knew it, which is why he had gifted it to her, to try and stir up feeling. He loved playing games. She ignored the memories she got when she looked at the dress, shoving it back in the box and leaving her house to go see Scott. She didn't want to think about Klaus.
