It was Friday, the day before prom. I had to go pick up Avery today and I used that as an excuse to miss school for a day. I could pick her up after school and still make it back home in time for bed but I wanted to look around the town for a few hours.

I thought it would be best to leave pretty early, I did have a 4 hour drive ahead of me. Dally knew I was going to Texas for the day, he wasn't too happy about it though. He didn't want me to be without him for a whole day, he's scared to leave me alone after that night.

I was woken up with a kiss to my forehead. As I opened my eyes I saw Dally standing over top of me. "Good morning. It's 6am." He said. I was confused why he was awake this early. "Good morning." I got up and gave him a kiss.

"Just let me come with you doll. I've never been to Texas. I want to see your old town. Come on. I even woke up early." His begging was working on me. "You win. You can come." I told him. "That's better." He said and kissed me again.

"We'll leave in a hour or two." I told him. He nodded his head and I went and got ready. After I was ready I made Dally some breakfast. "We can leave after you eat your food." I said as I handed him the plate. As he ate I got the money that I was going to bring together, enough for gas and quite a bit extra.

"Are you planning on running into anyone? I mean is there anyone that you don't want to see at all?" Dally asked me. I thought about all the people I would see. He was right, there are quite a few people that I'm hoping I don't see. "Well let's just hope that I don't run into anyone that doesn't like me." I told him. I had gained a few enemies after living there for 17 years.

Dally ate his food and we left after, we pulled out of the driveway at 8am. He was already restless a hour and a half into the drive, no patience from him. "Take a nap it'll pass the time quicker." I told him and he said, "No doll." I jokingly rolled my eyes and kept driving.

We got there 5 hours later, we got stuck in the morning traffic. I pulled into Averys driveway and me and Dally both got out of the car, Dally was over dramatically stretching his legs. "We were in that car for so long." He said and came up behind me to hold my waist. "Only 5 hours, don't be so dramatic." I said and he lifted me off the ground in a joking manner.

I walked up to Averys front door and lightly knocked on the door, a few seconds later Dally started banging on the door. My only concern about bringing Dally was that people wouldn't like him or that he would be rude, I want my old friends and people that I knew and loved to approve of my boyfriend.

Avery's mom ripped open the door after hearing Dally's loud knocks. "Now who is knocking on my door like that- Mari!" She sounded annoyed until she said my name. She hugged me tight and invited me inside the home. "Who are you?" She looked Dally up and down. "That's my boyfriend Dally, he's real good to me." I quickly said before Dally could say something that would make it worse. She reluctantly invited him inside to.

We both sat down on the couch. A few minutes later Avery ran inside the living room and hugged me tight. "I missed you so much. You brought your boyfriend I'm excited to meet him." She said and shook Dally's hand. He had an awkward handshake. He pulled me closer to him after she let go of me.

"Mari's old boyfriend used to hit her you know. Do you?" Avery's mom, Amy, said. I couldn't be any more embarrassed, I felt bad for Dally to. "What? No. I don't hit her." Dally said and gave me a look like he was uncomfortable. I think Avery felt the tension to because she said, "Well mom we better head out of here." Avery's mom gave me a hug and we headed out to my car.

Avery got in the backseat and I started driving around. Dally had his hand on my thigh and I felt like this was really awkward. Maybe Dally getting interrogated was a bad start to the whole thing, maybe it'll get better. "Y'all should stay for the big party tonight." Avery said.

The seniors always had a big party near the end of the school year to celebrate graduating. I looked over at Dally and he nodded his head yes, I assumed he wasn't talking much because he felt awkward to. I told Avery that we would stay.

I decided to stop first at the bar that I used to work at, just to see if it looked any different. It looked the same except it being more wore down than the last time I was there. I hugged my old boss and he congratulated me for getting away from my mother, I guess the news had made it around town.

The next stop was a couple old stores I used to shop at and hang around. I walked in and gave the owner a hug, her name was Barbara and she's very sweet. Barbara owns my favorite secondhand store, I've gotten most of my clothes from her store. She always let me look through the new items before anyone else. She gave Dally a hug to and told him that we looked very sweet together, he just gave a small smile.

Me and Dally were attached by the hip the whole day. I don't know if he was nervous or being protective but I didn't mind at all. After hanging around my old town the whole day we headed to the big party for the seniors.

Dally was holding my hand and my waist the whole time. I felt like a exhibit at the museum with how many people were staring at me and whispering. Dally spoke up for the first time in a few hours and said, "Hey if you want to stare then you can stare at me and if you want to whisper then you can say it out loud." Everyone looked away after that.

Me and Dally found a chair to sit on, I sat on his lap. The night mostly consisted of me pointing at people and telling Dally who they were and what drama occurred with them. "You see that girl?" I pointed at a tall brown haired girl. "Yeah." Dally said. "My boyfriend cheated on me with her. They got caught in the school bathroom. That's how I found out, they had an assembly about it." I was having a lot of fun. "But you're way prettier." Dally said and we both laughed.

Dally had a couple beers and I wasn't planning on drinking anything, I did have to drive us home. Avery was off doing her own thing until she came up to me with a shot.

"Here's you a shot Mari." She was clearly tipsy. I shrugged and took it, I didn't think one drink would make much of a difference at all. I was starting to fall asleep on Dally, it was close to 3am.

3am hit and I wanted to get going, or at least sleep in the car for a bit. I stood up and Dally followed. After I stood up I was met with an immediate wave of nausea. "Dally." I said swaying back and forth, I was dizzy as well. "Yes doll?" He said noticing that I wasn't doing well.

No more than a few seconds later I was passed out in Dally's arms.
