THE PLACE SHE WAS IN, WAS DARK.
The fire still remained in her bones, but it had faded. She felt as if she was floating somehow, an eerie calm had washed over her.
But eventually the calmness went away, nothing came into it's place; just stillness.
It was as if all her nerves were firing, every sense was awakened. She could feel as if someone was watching her, and as much as she wanted to open her eyes and tell them to stop - she couldn't, everything about her was weighed down.
She could hear movement close to her, the stillness slowly cracking and the anxiety seeping in.
Why couldn't she move?

Jasper hadn't left her side since that night.
He had to be coaxed out of the room that she was in just so he could go out hunting, and even then, he made his family promise that someone was always with her when he couldn't be; and even when he hunted he barely ate - he drunk only enough to satiate his hunger before he rushed back.
Over the days that she was in her death-sleep, Jasper did a few things: occasionally he would just talk to her, about anything and everything, on the nights he'd read to her - sitting directly by her bedside as he did so. Sometimes he would play music and just watch her, listening to her body slowly heal - slowly die.
Occasionally she would twitch or grimace as the Venom took effect and he was there to help her through it; but for the most part she just lay there.
Jasper went over to Trixie's house the night that the Cullens had returned from Phoenix, he mainly went to collect some of Trixie's comfort items, but to also comfort Emma - reassuring her that her niece as okay. That she'd be home soon.
He soothed Dahlia's concerns too; Trixie's friend had been all but blowing up the teens phone after she had gone completely radio silent for two days, and on the thirteenth missed call, Jasper had answered - had explained that Trixie wasn't home right now because she got sick while they played baseball so she was staying with them until she recovered. Even when Dahlia offered to come over and keep her friend company, Jasper denied, saying that all Trixie had been doing was sleep, and that she'd recover soon enough; that Dahlia could visit once she'd gotten better.
The lying and the false promises never sat right with him, it only added to the guilt that was eating away at him.
The nights he spent talking to Trixie, were mostly apologies, and in turn pleading her to forgive him when she woke.
They had promised that they would return to one another, Jasper knew that. But he also knew that he failed at protecting her, as much as it was her choice to go to that ballet studio, he should have been able to do more than take her pain away so that it wouldn't hurt as much in the end.
He should have been quicker like Edward, who had managed to make it to his girlfriend in time. Edward saved Bella, but Jasper couldn't save Trixie; and that very fact made him unforgivable in his own mind. He would forever be repenting for the mistake he made, and he refused to even consider the possibility in making any others for as long as his eternal life lasted.

A weird alternative to pins and needles had begun now.
They started in her fingertips, and then worked their way up her body. She felt like electricity was surging through her.
Unlike before where she could sense someone watching her, this time she could feel the table beneath her, she could feel a hand holding hers - an indistinguishable voice was speaking to her, whoever it was sounded far away, talking to her in whispers.
