Chapter ten. Cotillion

                                    

                                          

Taylor's pov
They quickly got in the car, Carlos and Evie helped Taylor sit down and rest her head on the seat. The others got in the car, and Jay started driving away. " Taylor what happened?" Lonnie asked from the passenger seat. " Ugh, I lost my knife while fighting Harry and when I went to retrieve it a shark got hold of my foot." 
Taylor held her hand down on her foot, the shoe was completely drained in blood. " Oh my, Carlos get the emergency kit we need to patch you up before you lose to much blood." Evie said holding her hand out for the kit. She and Carlos quickly helped stop the bleeding. While Mal and Ben were silent. " Thanks." Taylor said feeling a bit better. " You're welcome." Evie said smiling back at her. 
" I'm really sorry things didn't go as you wanted them to." Ben said out of the blue to Mal. Mal was breathing heavily trying to get her breath back. "I mean... As long as you're safe, that's..." She said still trying to get her breath back. " I mean, at least I got to see the Isle." Ben said, Taylor didn't mean to listen in on there conversation but she had nothing better to do since Evie said she should sleep. But she could sleep, she kept thinking about Harry, he had saved her from the shark of course she hadn't told the others but he did. Why? She taught he hated her, she looked on the floor there his hat was laying. She smiled til herself, at least they taught she could keep the souvenir from the pirate. 
" Uma helped me see that." Ben suddenly said, wait what. Taylor had stopped listening for a second now she was intrigued. " Ben, Uma captured you." Mal said, she was right though, Uma did take him.  " She's an angry girl with a bad plan. That's not so different from you when you came to Auradon, Mal." Taylor could see Mal's stare at Ben burning like a torch. " Awkward." Dude said, well he was enjoying others understanding him. " Dude! Dude, I know you can talk but that doesn't mean you always should." Carlos said petting the dog. 
The rest of the ride back was incredibly awkward. So Taylor just decided to try and sleep, she was later woken by Evie. That were back. Jane started talking to Ben about the cotillion, he asked Mal if she wanted to cancel so Evie and Taylor took her away before it got more awkward. " We need to talk." Evie said dragging Mal away from Carlos and Jay 
" No." Carlos finally said. The girls turned to look at him. " No?" Evie asked. " You guys are always going of in a huddle. Whispering your girl-talk stuff or whatever, and Jay and I are tired of it." Carlos said, you could see the moment of confusion on Jay's face for a second. " I'm not." Jay said holding up his hands. They turned back to Carlos. " Where your family, too. We've been through a lot. Together. I'm not stopping that now. Okay? Everyone, sit" Carlos finally said, sitting down on the ground himself, Taylor was the first to follow probably because she couldn't really stand herself anyway so it was better to sit. 
They all sat down in silence before Carlos spoke again. "I don't know how to start girl talk." He said looking at the three girls around him. There was a long silence before Mal started talking again. " Well.. I'm a mess. I'm a huge mess. I mean.. Six months ago I was, you know, stealing candy from a babies. And now, everyone wants be to be this Lady of the Court and I have no idea how to keep up the act." Mal said trying her best to hold in the tears. 
" Then don't." Carlos said. " See, this was dumb." Jay said about to stand up when Evie disrupted him. " Maybe it wasn't. We're always gonna be the children from the Isle, and the rebel amongst the princesses." Evie said smiling at Taylor, yes she was a vk but only her friends new that. At Auradon prep she was known as the rebel who worked on the Isle. Evie continued by saying. " I tried to forget it, I really tried, but those are our roots. And we all did what we had to do to survive, but it made us who we are. And we're never gonna be like anybody else here. And that's okay. That's okay." "And we can't fake it." Taylor joined in saying. " No." Evie said smiling.
