I mostly wrote this chapter so that when it eventually happens (you know what) then you readers will actually care more about Tanjirou's family! I promise I'm not a sadist...
3rd Person POV:
Tanjirou 11 Years Old
Nezuko 10 Years Old
The Kamado household was alive with warmth and activity as the family gathered for dinner. The scent of freshly cooked food filled the air, mingling with the sound of laughter and chatter. In the kitchen, Kie Kamado worked alongside her eldest son, Tanjirou, preparing the evening meal.
Rokuta, just two years old, was nestled in Nezuko's lap, his tiny fingers clutching a piece of soft bread as he nibbled away. Nezuko, ever the doting older sister, cast occasional glances at her baby brother, making sure he was comfortable and content.
Tanjirou's younger siblings were in the other room, Rokuta, Shigeru, and Takeo, watched eagerly, their faces alight with anticipation.
As they worked, Kie glanced at Tanjirou, a soft smile on her lips. "You've become quite skilled at cooking, Tanjirou," she said, her voice filled with pride. "Your help makes everything so much easier."
The younger siblings, unable to contain their excitement, crowded around Tanjirou, eager to assist. Shigeru reached for a small carrot, his eyes wide with curiosity. "Can I help, Tanjirou?" he asked, his voice high and hopeful.
Tanjirou nodded, guiding Shigeru's tiny hands as they chopped the carrot together. "Of course, Shigeru. Just be careful," he said, his voice warm and encouraging. Tanjirou guided him gently, showing him how to hold the knife properly and chop safely.
"Just like this," Tanjirou said, his voice warm and encouraging.
Kie watched them with a fond smile, her heart swelling with pride. "You're an amazing big brother Tanjirou," she said softly, her voice full of warmth and admiration.
As the meal came together, the family gathered around the table. The Kamado children settled into their seats, their eyes shining with eagerness. Kie served the food with a fond smile, her heart full of love as she watched her children.
As they ate, Tanjirou began to share stories from his day. "I went down to the village today," he said, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "It was market day, and there were so many interesting things to see!" He said with his excited tone.
Shigeru's eyes widened. "Did you see anything really cool? Maybe something that sparkled or made noise?"
Tanjirou chuckled. "Actually, yes. There was this beautiful necklace with a pendant that changed colors depending on the light. It was mesmerizing."
Hanako leaned in, her curiosity piqued. "Did you ask the merchant where he got it from?"
Tanjirou shook his head. "I didn't get a chance. He was very busy, and I didn't want to intrude. But I heard him mention that he traveled all the way from the coast. Can you imagine? From the coast all the way up here!" Tanjirou said his hands moving up and down trying to show where they were and where the merchant had come from.
Takeo, who had been quietly listening, furrowed his brow thoughtfully. "The coast must be very different from our mountains. I read that they have different kinds of plants and animals. Did you see any animals while you were down there?"
Tanjirou nodded. "Yes, I saw some birds I've never seen before. They had bright feathers and sang in such unique ways. It made me wonder what other creatures live outside our mountain."
Kie smiled as she served herself a portion of the stew. "It's wonderful that you're curious about the world beyond our home. It's important to learn about different places and people."
