Chapter 26 - Last of the Family

                                    

                                          
Harley was with Elijah and Nik waiting for Rebekah to arrive. She was looking at her feet while shuffling.
"Are you alright, little flower?" Nik asks
"Yeah. Do you think she will like me?" Harley says 
"Of course she will." Nik says
"Why are you so nervous? You were practically fearless when we first met." Elijah says
"I didn't know you were my uncle then. You were just some guy in a suit trying to compel me to learn about the necklace my mother gave me. I know Rebekah is my aunt."
"And that makes you nervous?" Nik asks
"I don't know. I spent so long being on my own other than Isaak and Trevor and didn't think I had any more family after mom died. I had no idea who you were and didn't know how to find you, so I just accepted that I wouldn't have family other than friends that I consider family. I just don't want to mess it up." 
"You could do nothing of the sort." Nik says. 
"Nik, Elijah." A feminine voice calls, causing them to turn to face it. Harley was standing behind them. 
"Rebekah." Elijah greets with a smile, and Rebekah hugs him
"Hello, sister." Nik says. 
"Nik. So where is this niece of mine?" Rebekah says
Nik and Elijah both turn to reveal Harley. 
"Bekah, meet Harley, my daughter." Nik says. 
"Hi. I'm Harley." Harley greets. 
"Hello, Harley. I'm your crazy auntie Bex." Bekah says. "Oh, Nik, she looks just like you."
"That she does." Nik says with a smile.
"What are we standing around here for? I demand to go shopping with my niece." Rebekah says as Elijah takes her bags.
Rebekah links arms with Harley. "Now what do you like to wear?"
"Dresses, my leather jacket, jeans, t-shirts, whatever really." Harley says with a shrug.
"Not too picky, I like it. Let's go."
"Please take it easy on her Rebekah. She hasn't been shopping with you before." Elijah says as the girls start walking.
"Oh bloody hell. Was this really a good idea?" Nik asks Elijah.
"Your daughter wanted to meet her aunt. I think she deserves that much."
"She deserves more. I'm asking if it was a good idea for us to come along." Nik says and they start to follow the girls.

Nik and Elijah were in the bar next door while the girls shopped in a boutique. Harley was looking through the sun dresses.
"Those are nice. Are you looking for a sundress?" Rebekah asks
"I'm meeting someone at the beach tomorrow and thought why not get a new dress for the occasion."
"Is it a boy?"
"Yeah. His name is Embry. He's really funny and sweet."
"So you like him?"
"It's hard not to. Embry's my second chance mate."
"Your second chance mate? What happened to your first one?"
"He left me without a word. Nik said that he caused our bond to become fragile and when I started getting over him it faded. Once I met Embry, the bond with Emmett broke completely." Harley says before she pulls a dress out. "What do you think of this one?"
