Episode 6 Continued - Murder on the Agenda
I stared at the floor lazily, still tasting blood as the wound on my forehead streamed it into my mouth.
Ugh... disgusting. I might as well be drinking copper.
"All her servants should be dead by now," one of the boss's underlings said. "They were told to start shooting and invading the mansion at three. On the dot."
"Ugh... invade the mansion?" I said then, sighing. "My poor carpet. Now it's going to have blood all over it."
"Your servants' blood," the boss remarked. "Such puny little weaklings."
Suddenly, the man to his right's phone came to life, and he gazed down to it in confusion.
The boss just glanced over at him. "Well? Are you going to answer it?"
"Oh," he said then, pulling it from his pocket and flipping it open. "It's Casey."
"They must've finished the job," the boss remarked. "I knew it'd only take thirty minutes."
"You still use flip phones?" I said then, sighing. "That's sad. Smart phones are a thing, you know."
"Shut it, you brat!" he snapped.
The underling just answered, pressing it to his ear. "Hello?"
There was silence for a moment.
He then handed the phone to the boss. "He says he wants to talk to you."
I glanced up then, getting curious.
The boss just sighed and put it on speaker, setting the phone on the desk. "Casey. Did you finish the job already? It was an easy one, huh?"
The phone line crackled, and he gazed down to it.
"Casey?"
"Boss!" he said then, voice shaking. "Please, for the love of God! Let her go!"
I smiled.
He suddenly sat up, slamming his hands on the table. "What? What happened? Were you caught?!" He then glared. "Did the police come?"
"No!" he cried then, tone cracking. "They're not human! I'm telling you, they're not human!"
My smile widened.
The boss just breathed for a moment, face paling as sweat started forming on his temples. "Hold on. Wait, Casey! Who's not human?!"
"Her servants!" he cried. "They're killing us all! In a matter of seconds!"
"Seconds?!" he echoed, getting a little frantic. "How?! That's impossible! There's hundreds of you!"
"They're killing us!" he sobbed. "Please, boss! Let her go! She's not to be trifled with! Let her-"
The phone line suddenly crackled as if it was taken from him.
"Hey!" the boss screamed in a panic. "Hey! Are you there?! Answer now or I'll have your head! Are you there?!"
A new voice came through the phone then. "Hello."
The boss froze.
My teeth showed through my smile as I coughed a little.
Sebastian.
"Who is this?!" he screamed then. "Who are you?!"
"Oh, I'm my master's servant," he answered calmly. "Now, tell me... is Master Yumi with you? She should really be getting home soon. It's late and she hasn't had lunch yet. I'm afraid I'm going to have to end this playdate."
His hand shook as he clutched the table, and he breathed shakily, staring at the desk in horror.
"Hello?" Sebastian said then. "Are you there?"
He never responded, breaths straining.
I then gazed up, yelling to Sebastian. "You suck!"
There was silence for a moment, and they all stared down at me in horror.
"Plainly said, master," he answered, clearly smiling. "I shall be there shortly to pick you up. It will only take a minute."
The phone line clicked, and the dial tone burned through the room.
I remained in place as all the men in the room shook and shivered, staring at the phone in horror.
The boss suddenly gazed down at me, eyes widening.
"You..." he said then, breathing shakily, "what are you?"
My lashes lowered as my smile widened. "Whatever do you mean? I'm human."
"And your servants?" he questioned, clutching his desk tightly as he glared at me.
"All are human," I said then.
He just glared down at me. "Impossible! No human can take down a hundred armed men without getting hurt! Let alone five!"
I just gazed up calmly. "You didn't let me finish. I was going to say, all are human," my eyes glowed dangerously as my smile widened, "but one."
