It was finally the end of school and everyone could go home. Since Marinette would be going with Adrien, they decided to walk back. It would be nice not traveling by car for once. Although Adriens house is far away. Half an hours walk atleast. Time passed by quick for them. It was as if they just took off from the school and reached the mansion in two minutes time. Marinette was still wondering, and frustrated at the same time about what Adriens mother wanted to talk to her about. 
What if she wants us to break up? What if I'm not good enough? What if- these questions popped up in her head. She would be simple wrong if she said she wasnt scared. After heading inside, Adrien room Marinette to his mom and left them to talk. 
"So.. You must be Marinette. My sons girlfriend?"
Emily's voice was peaceful, compared to Gabriel she had a softer tone.
"Yes.. I am, it's really nice to meet you Mrs. Agreste."
Marinette tried to sound as calm as possible, but her plans failed because Emily could see right through her. 
"Dear, there's no need to be scared. I know this is a bit sudden but I have to talk to you about something.."
Emily gave her a soft smile and Marinette was simple curious. 
"Oh.. May I ask, what us it that you want to discuss with me?"
Being formal wasn't something the blue haired girl was used to. She always talks with her friends in an informal tone. So speaking with Adriens mother was a bit complicated for her.
"If.. I am correct. Gabriel was the previous holder of the butterfly miraculous?"
Marinette was shocked. She couldn't risk her identity or the fact that Gabriel was in fact monarch.
"Mrs. Agreste.. I, I'm not sure really. Only ladybug knows Monarch's identity. And I'm not ladybug I'm afrai-"
"I know, that your ladybug. Gabriel told me himself."
Marinette was not just confused. How could've he told her, when he wasn't alive anymore?
"But how-"
"The thing is, he wrote me an apology letter for what he did. And he told me that you are ladybug and if I have anything to ask, I should ask you."
Marinette was too shocked to answer for a while. 
"So he was.."
The young girl nodded. 
"I'm afraid he was.. Indeed monarch. He requested that no one knew, specially Adrien. He said he wanted Adrien to remember the times he tried to be a good father."
Emily nodded.
"I'm really sorry about this Mrs. Agreste. I didn't want to hide this from Adrien but to think.. Knowing that his father was the villian the city was fighting against.. He'd be so heart broken. I feel like, he'll be hurt even more." 
"I understand. Don't worry, I won't tell him any of this unless you decide that it is time he knows. He has to know one day, that his dad and never the hero he'd thought he was."
Marinette nodded slowly.
"Thank you, it really means a lot."
It was decided. Adrien would know someday, just not today. But it was too late. Because they didn't realize, that Adrien was listening to them all along.
