Y/NS POV "Well that was boring" Nika says as we walk into our hotel room.
We were only in the club for 30 minutes and found zero interest in the songs they were playing, drinks they served, and the setting in general.
"Right, it's all good though cuz we got that game anyway" Paige replies with stretching her arms.
"Will forever be grateful for our local club" Kk slumps on the bed.
"Hey, go change first" Nika sits next to kk and attempts to push her off the bed.
"Alright alright, dammnnn" kk gets up and digs in her suitcase "you on the bed wit nasty clothes too" she pulls out her pajamas and heads to the bathroom.
"It's different with me!" Nika lays on the bed and rolls her eyes.
Paige and I both grab our clothes from our suitcase and wait for kk to get out the bathroom.
We both sit on the edge of the bed "so...Caitlin" I look at her. Paige, Caitlin, and I all played for the USA basketball and haven't really seen her since. It's a bit nerve wrecking because we're not on bad terms with her, but the thought of playing against someone you were close friends with makes this weird. We all care for each other and would hate to see each other lose but that's the sacrifice we made...in a way. When UConn didn't choose her, it was heartbreaking but we all made sure we kept in contact and there were zero hard feelings.
"Yup" Paige remembers.
"Oh shit i forgot yall played with her, oh my god do you guys think it's gonna be awkward" Nika sits up and stares at us.
"I highly doubt it, but it's just gonna suck" Paige lays down and sighs.
I pat her thigh in reassurance "It'll be fine, probably just the thought of facing her on the opposite side of the court is gonna be interesting. But same goes for you, how do you feel about that?"
"I mean...it's just how it is and there's no hard feelings. We're playing by the book so there's no excuse but to go all in" Nika replies.
"That's true, feeling forced is better than wanting to" kk comes out the bathroom.
"Okay eavesdropper" Nika gathers her clothes and goes to the bathroom.
"Hey, I'm just helping yall out" kk gets under the sheets and plugs her phone.
"I mean yeah you're right though. Just hoping it's not awkward, you know?" I get up to gather my pajamas as well.
We're all eventually settled down and feeling a bit tired so we turned on the tv to whatever espn's playing that night. We're all under the sheets talking about what we're gonna do after this dub.
"What if we did a weekend trip to New York?" I suggests.
"Lowkey though, take two cars and go" Nika replies.
