Abbie's POV

Matisa looked my way menacingly and fisted her hands.

"You just don't know when to give up, do you? Don't say I didn't warn you to stay away, you stupid bitch. I'll make you pay for coming here and trying to sabotage my plans. That throne should have been mine. Our grandmother was stupid to have married that mutt. But rest assured, the throne will be mine, and not you or anyone will stand in my way!" Matisa says as she looks at me with rage.

The aura exuding from her hands intensifies, and she smirks at me as if she had already triumphed over me. I can hear something slowly crawl behind me and see the vines creeping up behind me.

She was using her herbal spell, making a vine creep up behind me in an attempt to strangle me, but unfortunately for her. I had a counterspell to get rid of her vine.

She yells, and the vine quickly dashes toward me, but I move, lifting my hand toward one of her top witches. Using telekinesis, I pull the witch toward me, causing the vine to pierce the witch right in the heart.

The witch shrieks in pain as the vine quickly expands, making her body explode into a million tiny pieces and causing her blood to splatter everywhere.

"NO!" Matisa screams, tilting forward in horror as she sees one of her main clan leaders die before her.

"You bitch! You'll pay for that!" she says as she tries to strike me with magic, but I block her, creating a protection shield in front of me.

The war gets uglier as the witches become angry and attack us with greater force.

At first, it seemed it was a fair fight. Equal parts were being fair in the fight, but Elora was right. It wasn't long before the witches began to play dirty.

Matisa knew that even if I was able to take one of her witches down, I was still not completely prepared. I could only learn a few spells and attacks in such a short time while she had been born into this, practicing her malice for hundreds of years until the day came for her to try and overpower Elena.

And though Elora and Elena tried their hardest to help, they had to fend themselves first and fight off the attacking witches and warlocks. Matisa was sure to keep them busy. Elena was still too weak, or so they thought. Soon, she was blasting witches with her magic.

Elora was getting angrier, making the witches launch toward her and turn into ashes, just as a vampire would when hit by sunlight.

"Give up, Abigail. You are no match for me," Matisa yells as we stagger for breath. I wasn't sure how long we had been fighting, but I was getting tired. Too tired.

Using magic with little knowledge was wearing me out faster than I hoped.

"I'll never give up. You may have blinded us; you blinded me! I thought you were Annalise, which made me believe you were a true friend. You are nothing but a conniving witch." I say as I'm ready to continue fighting.
