MYRA'S POV
How long does it take to recover your mind once you lose it? Because I haven't been able to get my brain in the right place for 48 hours.
It had been two days yet I could still feel the softness of his lips and our lips had barely even touched! Thousands of butterflies had erupted in my stomach at that moment and they hadn't left since then.
Shaking my head, I attempted to push back the fluttery thoughts and tried to focus on the task at hand. Baking a cake! That too in the kitchen of whispering pines.
"Myra, you are going to get us killed today." Exclaimed Stella in her typical dramatic tone followed by an even more dramatic sigh.
Sanvi joined her as well, "I am already planning out different excuses to give." A fit of laughter echoed in the kitchen as the two ladies gave each other a high-five.
Letting out a sigh, I took a spoonful of cake batter and extended it to Sanvi. "Jayda meetha to nahi haina?"
She hummed in satisfaction, a soft glow of happiness spreaded on her face causing me to smile as well. "Acha Hai?" My eyes expanded with hope.
"Mast hai." Sanvi made an "italian" hand gesture, pinching all fingers of her palm together as she moved her hand in the air to show her approval.
A satisfactory glint found its way to my eyes. Stella discreetly tried to extend her hand in an attempt to lick the cake batter but I slapped the back of her hand before she could reach the glass bowl, "Eh! Don't put your finger in it."
"I was going to take it from the edge." She pouted. I rolled my eyes and took a fresh spoon and scooped the batter, extending it to her sulking self.
After I was satisfied by its taste testing, I poured the chocolate cake batter in a round shaped mould and tapped it on the counter a few times to get rid of all the pores. That's when a knock interrupted the sound of the mould hitting the marble counter.
I looked at the duo chatting in front of me, they looked at me. Three pairs of eyes widened in fear, Are we doomed? Probably.
If anyone finds out that we were baking a cake secretly, even when I was completely restricted to do any kind of work till my wedding; the consequences won't be our favourite and we were yet to even start to get ready for tonight's ceremony.
Two deep crease lines formed on my forehead as I whined, without making any noise. Another knock! but this one was followed by a hushed whisper. "Ma'am, Can I come in?"
Oh right! How could I forget? I had asked Abhir to guard outside the kitchen and alert us in case someone comes. I sushed Stella and Sanvi, who were making assumptions about who it could and walked forward to unlock the door.
Abhir entered, worry evident on his face. After scanning the corridor one last time, he locked the door from the inside. I looked at him with raised eyebrows, waiting for him to speak.
"How much longer will it take?" Abhir's eyes darted towards the cake mould placed in the middle of the counter and the two women standing behind it, looking at us intently.
"Uh..around 40 minutes." That would be enough for the cake to be baked. Later, when it'll cool down, I'll be able to apply the frosting and decorate it a little.
"40 minutes!!" Abhir's eyes widened in surprise as if I asked for his property or something. I let out an awkward smile, "Uh yeah?"
