the dinner party took place at the palace, where the van der woodsen's are staying at the moment. bart came home late friday night, so he would be attending lily's dinner party as well, where elizabeth hoped to talk to her father. the dinner party had began and everyone was sitting at tables with their close friends, and some with their family. the upper east side teens were all sat together at a table. mostly everyone was here except for the archibald family which is strange. elizabeth decided she would message nate and find out why he isn't here yet.

e- where are you?
n- just running late. dad had some stuff to finish up, be there soon
e- okay- just thought i would check in

serena and blair seemed to be in some kind of argument, they were barely talking to each other and when they did there didn't seem to be much love in what they were saying. elizabeth leaned over to chuck. "what's going on between them?" she whispered. "well, blair has become jealous that serena gets more attention from blair's minions than she does" chuck laughs. "really? that's so dumb." e rolls her eyes. "also, quick question e. how long have you liked nate?" he questions her the same way he questioned nate. "um, wh-what? i don't know what you're talking about." she stutters slightly. "you are my sister. you literally can't lie to me. so tell me." he pushes further. "not now, nate will be here any second." elizabeth sighs. "what can't you say because i'm here?" nate questions. "nate, um it's nothing don't worry about it." she says giving chuck a death glare. nate doesn't say anything, he just sits down in the empty seat at the table next to elizabeth. as if there wasn't already enough drama at this dinner party the thing the upper east side teenagers saw next was quite shocking. bart bass and lily van der woodsen sharing a kiss. "what the hell?" serena states. "you have got to be kidding me" elizabeth adds. nate reaches over to put a hand on the small of beth's back to comfort her. "maybe let's step outside so you can take a breather?" nate suggests. beth looks at nate and just nods. "serena? chuck? you aren't going to cause a scene?" nate questions. "no nathaniel, we will be on our best behavior" chuck jokes. nate and elizabeth step outside. "want to talk about it?" nate asks sweetly. "not really- but thanks" elizabeth replies. "you look gorgeous by the way" nate smiles. "thanks nathaniel- you don't look too bad yourself" she smirks at the nickname she gave him. "why thank you. on another note, think about it. when you tell your dad about the whole disgrace incident he may be in a better mood because he has a girlfriend" nate states. "girlfriend seems like a strong word- but i mean you may be right. hey, this doesn't change the fact that i want you to be there when i talk to him" beth says firmly. "yes ma'am" nate solutes jokingly making beth laugh. "let's get back inside" she says still laughing. he places his hand on her waist guiding her back into the palace. when they get back everything and everyone seems to be enjoying their time meaning that no arguments or drama happened since the two left. they sat down, had dinner, then everyone mingled afterward. slow music was playing and couples were dancing on a designated dance floor. elizabeth was talking to her dad's business partner and his wife and was extremely bored. nate who was talking with chuck and blair seemed to notice. "hold that thought, i have some rescuing to do" nate says heroically. he made his way over to you. "sorry to interrupt you sir but i came over here to ask ms.bass to dance" he smiles. "no worries son, howard let the two dance" howard's wife returns the smile. nate gestures his hand toward elizabeth for her to take. she accepts and they walk toward the dance floor. they slow danced the traditional way (his hands on her waist, her hands on his shoulders)

"thanks for saving me back there, apparently mr.lennox thought i wanted to talk about my father's business stuff" she says appreciatively. "anything for you" nate responds flirtatiously. "you're so cute" she boops his nose playfully. the rest of the upper east side teens saw the two dancing and thought it was adorable. "i wish they would just date already" blair smiles. "they would be so cute together!" serena exclaims quietly. "and they both like each other" chuck states matter of factly. "they just need a push from us." blair smirks. together, they come up with a plan to get nate and elizabeth to admit their feelings for each other. "i have an idea.." serena says cautiously. "let's hear it." chuck responds. "okay, you know how nate used to date aspen halliday (made up name)?" serena questions. "oh my god, yes! she was like obsessed with nate!" blair realizes. "yeah, well she is now happily dating someone new. but anyways we could ask her if she can pretend to still love nate. then nate will ask for advice and we will tell him to kiss someone passionately in front of her to show her that he has moved on" serena schemes. "that's brilliant! i'll get to work on finding her!" Chuck exclaims quietly.
